Generally for running, the further you stretch the distance, the skinnier the elite athletes become If you want to see the strongest and most muscular runners, look at the shortest possible distance sprints. There you will see mostly jacked (upper and lower body) runners with muscular legs I used to do half marathons with a 7:40 av min/mile, but since getting into lifting and putting on upper body weight (which becomes DEAD useless weight for distance running), I’ve had to shorten my distance to 5k’s. And my performance has dropped. While I used to be able to do a 20min 5k, the last competitive one I did last November was only 23 min 40ish second finish time. So a noticeable decrease. And I love running, but try as I might, I can’t seem to get much beyond this current performance level | |||

There are two kinds of cardio, including for running: high intensity and steady state. Steady state means running at a pace which is usually around 60% or so of someone’s max pace. And high intensity means running at a max pace, then taking a break, then repeat As long as someone is taking in enough EXTRA calories to compensate for those burned in steady state cardio, even distance running (within a reasonable distance), there should be no loss of muscle. I have been able to make steady progress on leg muscle size while still running 3 miles at a time, 4 times per week This is not true for HIT cardio however. Due to the high demands on the body, this type can and WILL directly impede muscle growth done via lifting, even with enough calories to compensate the expenditure, due the the extra tearing being done to muscle fibers. But for elite sprinters that only do sprints as their source of exercise, or else space out leg strength exercise appropriately, they can still develop their leg muscles well | |||

And yeah HIT or sprints are good ways to actually gain muscle. I'm just saying people go so far to the point where they need to break down protien to keep going. And ur body will often consume protien before it tries to switch over consuming its fat stores, unless you are already consuming your fat stores. So carb loading can be bad.
--------- I want an implant in my brain (to basically control me like a robot) and body (to give adrenaline) that just lets me shut down into an unconscious state than the United States Government can turn my body into a living missile and I will run to the enemies of the state and karate chop them at inhumane speeds. Then my body could be usefull to my fellow Americans. | ||

Race day I would do a mix of sativa edible weed (which I always do when working out because it increases focus, and makes me enjoy my music more), 2 scoops pre-workout powder (for that super crank), and then I would beg a single Vicodin, oxy, or Percocet pill from a relative who had them leftover from surgery. I’d only do one of these pills on race day. These almost completely shut off the burning feeling of lactic acid I’m not being drug tested, so why not? Lol. I don’t recommend doing something like that for a regular run, easy way to become addicted to opioids | |||

I don't care much for marathons.
Sure, Kipchoge can run 42km in 2 hours 1 minute and this is impressive but have you ever heard of fast walkers WALKING 50miles in 3 hours 30 minutes? I fucking love fast walking.
