It’s ironic because generally as republicans we are supposed to be very much in favor of the free market and allowing companies to make profits off of their work. Er yes it is. Because the company was freely allowed to sell it to anyone across the globe and would have made a lot of money regardless. The company is not required to make the product, they’re not required to sell it to the US government they are free to not make it or sell it to anyone else who they want. Obviously a good business decision would be to sell it to the government that is guaranteeing purchases from you and enforcing mandates but you’re not required to do that.

i've been hearing this phrase for 40 years now and i just keep getting more leftish as i get older

i still don't think there's really that much of a distinction between the two parties, so to me whether or not they flipped isn't relevant, but i kind of thing that phrase only exists to reinforce the outer edges of the overton window
