The world will be fine, the point is to destroy America and prevent the re-election of Trump

Eliminating the student loan interest freeze to end the debt ceiling negotiations was a poison pill accepted by an irrational republican caucus.

Two Georgia Republican senators coming out right at the end of the 2020 election and saying they opposed $2000 in Trump stimmy money, pissing off both Trump and most American households that wanted free neetbucks, tipped the Georgia election and therefore the Senate to the Democrats.

There are 40 million student loan borrowers holding $1.6 trillion in student loan debt that each had $10-$20k ripped away from them by Republicans. The health of the economy is the single greatest predictor of the outcome of an election, especially for an incumbent president. If you think tens of thousands of dollars being on the line isn't going to tip the balance in otherwise tight races, I don't know what to tell you. GOP support is paltry among the young, and boomers are rapidly dying-- Trump's support won't have grown between 2020 and 2024. Even certain people on this very board who used to lick Trump boot are bitching about him.

Basically, if we manage to avoid a recession through Q4 2020 and if Biden doesn't keel over, leaving behind a wildly unpopular and most likely equally incompetent vice president, betting odds don't look good for Trump.

Who do you think Diamond Joe is gonna pick for VP because the odds are fair that VP will be president.

Maybe even the ol' switcheroo right after he assumes office in January 2025, assuming they successfully engineer another divine election theft

One of these is plainly unlawful and was known to be plainly unlawful by the perpetator.

Yet it was promised anyway. Curious!

The thing about Kamala Harris is, winning black voters is integral to the few Democrat paths to victory. This is extremely constraining and makes the prospect of an alternate VP pick unlikely. Although she is also not even all that popular with black voters, tossing her aside for someone that would help against Trump could cause a revolt if he picked the wrong person.

If the GOP playing games with the teaching of slavery and critical race theory in schools and their rhetoric about black lives matter isn't enough to deter them from voting R, I can't imagine what would be. What Democrats don't seem to understand is that Southern black people as a bloc have entirely different approaches to issues than the popular media image, which disproportionately reflects the voices of younger, college-educated black folk. Fond of Democrats but in many ways far more conservative. I think that partly explains why Bernie got stomped so hard.

Yet another terrible fucking thing about the electoral college-- catering to a few key voters in a few key states leading to a shitty vice president, a shitty leader running the direction of your country.

Interesting you think voters, most of whom are low-information, give a fuck. Twenty thousand dollars and year(s) of frozen interest accrual ripped away by a Republican congress and a controversially partisan Republican supreme court. Even if you interpret it as an optics strategy by Democrats to pin an impact on American wallets to Republicans, it's still a shitty fucking move on behalf of a GOP that took the bait lol. They could have kept the interest freeze and let the supreme court take care of the $20k.

They didn't even bother presenting an alternative for student loan borrowers. At least when they were still trying to dismantle healthcare, they said the meaningless words "health savings accounts". Choosing between reducing personal debt and government debt, what voter is going to choose the latter? In the privacy of a voting booth, likely not many. Which is why Medicare has been so fastidious in spite of being insolvent.

I don't think they give a fuck, but I'm not talking to them. I'm talking to you.

Also does the 3rd paragraph go with the 2nd paragraph? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

"I had $20k and now I don't" vs. "Hmmm, was this nuanced legal issue treated soundly by Biden and the supreme court? -or- How dare he try to remove $20k of my debt and have it deemed unconstitutional!"

How your household is doing financially is the end all be all of elections and Republicans fucked over 40 million households. And the act isn't even going to be noticeable to the other 260 million households, financially.
