Default Necromancer Notice

Howdy all,

Since the servers are still down, I can't confirm this, but:

1) "Haynar: Improved (more classic) FD behavior."

This my suggest that Necro FD is back on a timer, in accordance with this change on February 17, 2000:

"The "Feign Death" spell, when cast by a Necromancer, will now have a fixed duration. The Necromancer will receive several warnings prior to the spell wearing off. This change was necessary because some Necromancers found a way to gain experience through their pet while being AFK for an extended duration, such as being in bed for the night. Note: This does not affect Shadowknights or Monks."

2) "Haynar: FD is now progressive. On first attempt, mob has about 2/3 chance of remembering you. On second attempt, about 50/50 chance. Each subsequent attempt will give you a greater chance at the mob forgetting you."

Likely will not change FD and /q when you have a huge pack of mobs, but for single targets? This is going to be helpful.

3) "Nilbog: Spells Levant and Quivering Veil of Xarn may only be cast at night."

Speaks for itself. Get used to /time. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

4) "Nilbog: The Ishva Mal will now spawn according to the November 2000 timeline."

For those of you leveling and are poor, this will be a god's gift. The new mechanics, as I remember them, is that Ishva is now on a 20 minute respawn timer with a PH, and I believe around a 20% chance to spawn. Additionally, he has bodyguards. So the price for Spell: Summon Corpse is going to tank, and you may be able to solo the camp for it yourself. The old spawn was a 36 hour static respawn. Remember that Summon Corpse is a common drop from Ishva, so this spell will be far easier to attain.

5) "Haynar: Moved player channeling checks based on distance moved to a linear model. This makes it a little more difficult to channel with small moves."

I think this will mostly hurt those of you with a higher latency. Sometimes, when you stop and start casting, the server wont have counted you as being stopped immediately, and your cast will need a channeling check. I notice this happens more with higher latency. So, be careful out there. May be better to count to 1 before casting after stopping.

Great post! tyvm [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Any idea when/if root and snare will be stacking when velious comes out? I've heard it happened a few months after velious was released, but I didn't know how close p1999 follows the timeline.

The patch where root and snare stacks was implemented a month and 4 days after launch of Velious.

Velious released: December 5, 2000

"Root-type spells and "snare" type spells now use a separate spell
effect.": January 9, 2001 (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/hist...es-2001-1.html)

However, note that on Project 1999, it may (and likely will) take much longer for this change to get implemented. But it should be one of the first things to get put in after launch of Velious.

Turning in place will also do the trick, I've found. At this point it's almost muscle memory to turn a bit before I start casting when I've come to a stop.

You mean turning to update the server to the fact that you are standing still, or turning counts as movement to trigger a channeling check?

Playing a caster, if I come to a stop to cast a spell and I do a tiny mouse turn 'bob' before hitting the cast button, there's no channeling check. It performs just like old retail in that regard - that tiny turn is updated to the server with the info that you're also standing still.

Was implemented to address an afk xp exploit which I don't believe exists on P1999 (?). Pets currently don't aggro mobs when the owner is FD as far as I'm aware. Seems the timer was never an intention of the devs for the necro class rather a fix for an exploit.

Also that thread suggests the FD duration implementation came and went, but it's hard to know when that happened. The only evidence on that thread suggests it was atleast gone before SoL.

So with FD changes, does the mob still full hate wipe when it gets back to starting point if your FD didn't clear it(it did on live from day 1)? that would be ultra bad if it doesn't...

After you killed the guards in front of Oggok for a while, they would become KOS to you. Then you and a necro friend could summon some yellow pets, FD, and sit right in front of the entrance. Once the guards spawned, your pets would kill them, and wa-la. XP while you sleep.

I thought they changed it so that if you just died if you were FD too long?
