Patch Notes: August 17, 2014

The transfer to the new panel was a great success. No more lag, no more server crashing due to overuse! We share the new panel with 3 other servers, two of which are inactive. So there should no longer be players getting booted for "using too much memory" We've got the old world completely transferred over, including the original spawn point. I was unaware that Good Guy Gusy (admin) was doing so much work on the spawn point. And although I appreciated it, I didn't feel like it 'fit in' with the (mostly) Vanilla server. So I had him restore the original spawn, complete with the trolling which occurred there:

Gusy also put a world border from -5000, -5000 to 5000, 5000. It really helps to ensure your map remains manageable. This should be more than enough space for folks to hide and build.

He also added the /spawn command to solve the problem where players were getting stuck. It has a long warmup and cooldown to prevent use for escape. You can type /spawn at any point, wait 60 seconds and you'll be ported back to the beginning.

We added the /sneak command at players requests. It toggles sneaking on and off (name hiding) without affecting other things.

WorldGuard. No creeper block damage, no fire spread, and no ender pearl teleporting. We see these as somewhat necessary to prevent griefing in sponge protected areas. I left lava flow on even though that is often used for griefing, because I think lava-flow-off ruins a lot of creations.

We added the sponges. Even with anti-hax installed, it'd still be very easy for a determined cheater to find other player's bases. This is why we felt like allowing base protection. Again, that is a max of 16 sponges per person, 21x21 blocks protected with each, bedrock to sky. They only protect block damage and block placement for now, not doors, chests, or PvP. Chests can be protected by placing blocks over them. Type /kit protection to receive your sponges. In your hotbar, they'll look like this:

And once placed, they'll look like this:

We've added x-ray protection and some minor anti-cheat stuff. These blocks can no longer be x-rayed: Gold Ore, Iron Ore, Coal Ore, Lapis Ore, Moss Stone, Obsidian, Chests, Diamond Ore, Redstone Ore, Clay, Emerald Ore, Ender Chests. Hackers, get lost, yo!

Game on, my friends.
