Game Mechanics: Staff of Elemental Mastery: Water

When using this item on my lvl 54 water pet it seems the only thing that it increases is the pet's physical size and nothing more. I was thinking well maybe i just got a low end focus pet but that isn't the case. Sometimes i am even seeing the same exact max hit numbers as i was without it on the lower end. The highest max hit WITH it i've seen was the highest i saw WITHOUT it as well. The nuke damage didn't increase and neither did the backstab damage from what i can tell.

So other than the physical size of the pet there doesn't seem to be any change and i know that isn't correct.
