This was from blue obviously, but figured I would give King Ak'anon a try. Back when I first started playing EQ I was obsessed with the fact that cities had rulers and you could take them out! Of course I was used to console games where most of those sorts of npcs were unattackable.

Anyway the fight was tough. I wiped the first time because I geared up for fire resist, when in actuality he casts his magic nuke a ton. The nuke is no joke as it hits for like 180....

It should be noted that king ak'anon is a lvl 60 mob, making him quite serious as far as resists go.

No puppet strings or other clickies were used during this fight.

You can see at the first screenshot I am insanely low mana and he is only at 94%! The reason for this is he was chain nuking me. However you can see here that he ran out of mana because he started trying to dispell... This was a huge help because I started to be able to gain mana back (shammy can gain mana even in tough fights by constant canni + regen + torpor). He does hit for 180... and I agro'd a damn light blue spider which was very annoying.

This is a really cool SAC. I was obsessed with killing NPC's in cities for the exact same reason.

Finally got around to killing Estrella.

Charmed a Ravenous from pit, and snare pulled her out and zoned. Grabbed pet, hasted/DSed and DSed myself. I engaged!

DoT'd with Vambraces and Breath of Ro and tanked to save pets health for a bit. Eventually a pathing mermaid adds, rooted her stupid face in the back and tried to reposition pet, which pseudo worked...

I stupidly tried to nuke to finish her at the end but I underestimated her HP and got a partial, leading to a very close ending. Didn't get many screenshots but:

If it's a static mob and you're doing it directly on their pop point, yeah that would work. Cause they'd be resetting almost instantly.
No, Trisantio is right. If he isn't on the aggro list before he casts FD, then he wont be on the aggro list if his pet is dead before he stands up, pather or not.

So last week or so I was able to solo Lodizal (on velious beta) without strings. It was an extremely long fight, and difficult at times. When he doubles you for 600 + bashes for 100 it can really screw up torpor timing.

Notably, I had all kunark gear, but did have velious spells. Probably would not have been doable without canni4.

I didnt take screenies because they fight was too long/boring for any good ones.

I love the idea of this thread. I love gruellingly difficult games and this challenge sounds like just the thing. IMO if a game doesn't hurt just a little (via difficulty) it isn't very fun. With that in mind I decided to start on this challenge at a relatively low level (I'm a lvl48 Enchanter).
There aren't many on the list I could attempt at this level, but the king was one.

The king room was really tough to crack for me, since I'd get ~5/6 calm resists, and quite a few crit resists. I'd try calm the whole room, mez/tash/charm a frog, then send it to suicide. I would zone afterwards, and gate back to the portal behind king room where I was bound. The problem with all the resists was that even if I didn't get a crit resist, and managed to calm two or three frogs, then calm would start wearing off by the time I could calm the whole room. Nevertheless, patience and persistence would eventually clear the room. I spent a night doing this and found I could do it in a consistent, albeit time consuming, manner. It took so long that I had to log for the night.

Day 2. Started the process all over again and managed to pop king (and tactician). Shortly afterwards I spotted an invis player in the room and I was worried the camp would be taken away form me, seeing as how I was incredibly slow at picking off the frogs in the room. Luckily, the necro, and later an enchanter, were incredibly understanding, and only wanted a shot at the tactician. We agreed that they could take the tactician and his placeholders as long as they left king and everything else alone (I didn't want help clearing the room). I want to thank Phinger and Naginni for being so understanding.

Once king room was clear, except for king and a bok knight, I calmed both, mezzed/tashed/charmed/weaponised bok (with two gnoll hide lariats) and I was ready to go.

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

1st attempt charm insta broke, before I could get king rooted. I get ganked by king and pet, including chainstuns from the gnoll hide lariats.

2nd attempt was going great. After bok was hasted, and king slowed/tashed/rooted the bok was kicking his ass. Unfortunately the room started repopping and I died (my hp was at ~50% to start because I'd basically bind wound after zoning out, and gate back and try again to save time, specifically to avoid a room repop).

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

3rd attempt a roamer joins the fight. I mez it and the fight it going well. Froglok tactician pops, charm breaks and I am very low on hp so run for the portal/zoneline.

4th attempt I have to deal with a pop before aggroing king. Pet takes care of it, but loses some hp. I pull king into hallway before king room with tash and send pet. The start of the fight looks bleak as pet is at ~25% while king is at 57%.

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

A roamer joins the fight again and I mez it and rerune. Slowed king is losing hp fast while my pet is holding strong. I start casting a few stuns (while my buffs start fading) and king gets a small heal off. He is very low on hp though, and together with my own and pet/lariat stuns, king falls!

Loot.

Looking forward to working my way through the list. Will definitely get some levels before attempting anything else. Fun times!

[x] The Golem Master [50 Warrior, HS North]
[x] Sentient Bile [50 Warrior, HS North]
[x] Crypt Wurm [50 Warrior, HS North]
[x] The Spectre Sepulcher [50 Monk, HS North]
[x] The Crypt Keeper [50 Necromancer, HS North]

So I discovered HS these last few weeks and was immediately in love. The fact that you can manatap nearly everything is just huge. I cleared basement to get my bearings then headed to north to try get some nameds. Did a lot of exp'ing there and ate a lot of deaths experimenting, but I think I have the hang of it now. Maybe not the naked c/r's though grrr.

The Spectre Sepulcher was tough simply because room 2 on the wiki map is really tricky for me. I ended up pulling the room across the hall on many attempts to pull the Spectre Sepulcher out (and eating HT's ouch). Finally I just targetted a mob in the room without gaining aggro, cast sight on it and calmed everything. Ran inside and petted a greater warbone skel, hasted it and stuck it on the Spectre and fought him in the room.

For The Golem Master I just used a hasted, weaponised pet vs him. Standard. Also joined The A-Team - FUCK YEAH [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

After a while in north exp'ing I found that letting swarms take down my pet, then breaking charm/nuking while everything is rooted was really the only way to go getting exp there. Works for any named's you can charm too (I know this is all old news but I've only been playing a few months). That's what I did to kill the Sentient Bile - much less hassle (surpsingly) then weaponising/hasting a pet IMO. Actually this was my second attempt because on the first attempt I mis-timed the charm break and the Bile's corpse disappeared into the ether. 'Lanly', a kind necro, let me take a shot at the bile while he was exp'ing in north - cheers mate.

At this point I had gained a few levels and lived in HS almost exclusively. I'd duo'd the Crypt Keeper so I had an idea of what I was in for. The problem was getting a crit resist while trying to calm the room of 6 mobs downstairs and 3 upstairs.

First attempt I calmed everything past the north boss door, charmed Keeper to get rid of his pet but aggro'd a sperm. No worries its just one. Had Keeper attack the 2 skels just outside door but the positioning was horrible. I couldn't get roots off on everything due to LOS issues and couldn't reposition without getting melee'd. Charm broke and I capped out.

Second attempt went much more smoothly. Killed the 3 mobs just inside north boss door and calmed the rest. This time I mezzed Keeper first to tash, mezzed Keeper's pet, and charmed Keeper (here his pet dies). Sent him to attack 3 mobs in the room then pulled everything out to the hallway. Rooted everything and it was smooth sailing.

Sebilis up next! Although Ice Comets wreck me so it's going to be interesting.

[S] Sentient Bile [50 Warrior, HS North]
[S] Crypt Wurm [50 Warrior, HS North]
[S] The Crypt Keeper [50 Necromancer, HS North]

I'd like to start by saying that I'm pretty sure I've also killed a few of the KC mobs on the list, but I can't really remember which, and also don't really have any sort of proof/screenshots, I also don't have anything for the Crypt Keeper, crypt wurm, or Sentient Bile, but I know that I've killed all of them at least once, some a very long time ago. If needed I can do it again though.

Anyways this is long overdue at this point and I've got a lot of mobs to cover so I'll try to do them somewhat in ascending order of difficulty, and I'll divide it up into a bunch of posts as I go. Some of the older kills also didn't have very good camerawork and I forgot to timestamp them, however I've had very good luck in the past couple weeks (especially today) with being able to get better shots for a lot of the kills.

[S] The Spectre Sepulcher [50 Monk, HS North]
Found him in west, I actually like going over there for some reason, the wing is pretty crappy with only 2 spawn points but I guess I like the crawl through it, and the free chloro + extra click of cholo whenever I want it.

I didn't really do anything special for this fight, just calmed the room and the pathers and charmed a pet + SoS/Forlorn Deeds

[S] The Golem Master [50 Warrior, HS North]

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I really should have seen what happened in this fight coming, and made sure that if my pet broke I rooted it rather than just hitting mez, hell looking back I even have a perfect SS of my pet getting poisoned, actually that may have been why I didn't notice.

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Anyways 1 near disaster at about 4% later I rooted everything in a panic and just nuked him, and my former pet, down.
And for anyone who was wondering I did in fact survive the aftermath.

[S] Skeletal Procurator [52 Shadowknight, HS West]

Before today when I had 4 EF's spawn in about a 3 hour period I'd probably killed this guy more times than any other boss in the zone, but for some reason this was the first time I'd ever taken a picture of the kill, maybe I'd always assumed that I had already done it or something.

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I usually kill him in the room with the other 2 mobs either calmed or mezzed/rooted, but I moved him out after him and my pet almost immediately started going at it on the teleport pad. I've never been summoned onto the pad before, and I'd like to keep it that way.

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I've always kind of enjoyed the Procurator fight, maybe because the first few I had were very close.

[S] the Skeleton Sepulcher [50 Warrior, HS South]

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

This was my old kill shot of him from way back when I started trying to work on the solo artists challenge. Luckily I caught him again today because I'm pretty sure that chloro/regrowth would make this kill S- ?

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

So there's my update, without the mace my pet beat him down pretty badly.
Gonna take a little break before posting the rest of south and all of east + a cliff golem.
