Okay, I still haven't changed anything, but when I got up this morning I was able to log in just fine. This is evidently a sporadic problem. Just sleep on it a day and try again. This seems to be a problem that goes away if you ignore it...

Sounds like a ISP / connection problem

I'd agree with you Uaellaen if I wasn't able to connect to PEQ and play there 9/10 times. I tried again this morning when the server population was a lot lower and the same problems.

Edit: maybe it's my end?? maybe I need to reset the router and try it some more. I flushed the dns, but when I get home from work, i'll reset that stupid box.

I solved my problem, it was just a matter of finding left over files after uninstall, reinstall, and not pinning eq shortcut to the task bar.

Ok, I can now log in and zone most of the time (hurray)

Here is how I did it:
www.portforward.com
Here they will tell you how on your particular router to set up port forwarding. Use the Ports 5998 i.e the ones in the eqtext.ini file you changed and voila!
