What is your virus program? If you name one of the dumb ones, then yes, it was irrational and you are likely computer illiterate. I'm an IT specialist and my download was clean as a whistle. You can even check the MD5 checksum when downloading these things to make sure nothing was added or tampered with.

Plus, get a real antivirus software. Also, when downloading from the arrghh place, you click the magnet link. You do NOT download any files from the site itself. If you did, you were probably clicking on an advertisement, not the real link. Download Adblock so you don't see those sort of things.
Wow, attacking my anti-virus before you even find out what it is.

I use AVG. I didn't download from that place, as I mentioned, someone sent me a link directly to the place to get it. I tried from there and it AVG came up with a problem. Maybe I'm no IT specialist, but when my anti-virus comes up with a flag, that worries me. Even if it's not a real antivirus. I won't be downloading it from anywhere, unless it was here or DBG, or I could find a physical copy for a reasonable price.

Again mostly irrelevant. The .dll files required to play on this server will set off your antivirus program, so in that respect as you mentioned, you will never be able to play.

simply exclude or flag dsetup.dll as a safe file (open your antivirus program and find the spot in there to do that)

Just to understand this more clearly, is it true that someone at SoE released a version of the server code to the creative commons sometime in or around 2009? Is this also the reason why we must use a specific version of the client (e.g. titanium)?

My understanding is that due to several "holes" in the server code that was released, developers have to use old log files, a lot of guesswork (not to mention time investment), to release new content and fix existing bugs, etc. That said, does this announcement mean there will be more cooperation in terms of providing missing data, and if so, specifically to P99, EQEMU, and/or the entire EMU community potentially? What does this mean for users and game clients?

In a nutshell, is Daybreak endorsing EQEMU, or P99 specifically as an orphan work from a copyright perspective, or is this something else?

Fascinating stuff!

Congratulations! This is a very big step! Super excited for the servers progression!

I think titanium was the last set of game dics with the original client before eqlive changed over to all the revamped stuff.Thats why i think we can only use that client.

P99 did support the Secrets of Faydwer client way back, they don't anymore... not sure what problems that caused.

Me thinks you need to just go play WoW. Your just coming off as some paranoid crazy person on here. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] AVG, yeah really.

Rararboker is the good guy, not your enemy like you think.

AVG? Your definitely trolling me. And I fell for it. =[ Shame on me.

I'd suggest googling md5 checksum. You will understand my post much better once you do that. But you not downloading it doesn't hurt any of us and the way your acting, it probably is a good thing for all of us.

I love all my nerd breathren and just wish to help you enjoy p99 in all its glory. Except the bronies, they are an abomination unto this Earth, they can go away and never return.

AVG is a virus. Just like Itunes.
