Game Mechanics: Trakanon's Teeth Zone Lag???

This problem started happening here about 3 weeks ago. I've been on this server since day 1 and never had a problem until recently.

I will try resetting the TT zone files tonight. I doubt it will help, but it's the last idea I have to fix it other than zoning into TT, putting Seb key on cursor, and then reclogging and hoping nobody sends me a tell between EJ and Seb.

Never had an issue with TT until I switched ISPs last week (Went from a phone line DSL to Cable). Now I'm getting major lag, MS in the 3000 plus range, and pretty much only able to do one action per log in. Also I noticed that the high MS stays for an hour or so after I leave the zone, not sure why it would linger like that.

Hopefully something said above is of use.

I thought I would chime in here with my experience. I loaded into TT 2 days ago to start farming seb key. I wander around the zone a little while nothing out of the ordinary. Tracked down my first forager and start casting snare. Mob changes from a walk to a run. All spells have grayed out and I can't cast anything. Mob passes through me no melee contact. Netstat is showing 100% connectivity. I don't LD. So I freak out and start heading for Swamp zone line. I walked straight through the zone line and to the end of the map. Uh oh! /q

Log back in to 7% HP and immediately loading into Swamp.

Rinse repeat happened 3 times. I can't go to Seb.

I have a 20 meg connection with no latency issues on anything else. I'm based out of Kentucky. Max FPS is set to 50 and as been for a while due to the turning speed issue.

For those having issues, I might suggest downloading/running WireShark/tcpdump to sniff out the packets and see what the return value is while you are in TT. You'll get spammed all to hell, but maybe then a dev might be able to see why the packets are getting dropped.

Hopefully one of you who are afflicted has some system administration history and can decipher the output [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Here is a WORKAROUND for this issue:

I'm not trolling, found this out by chance and repeated it successfully 3 times so far.

1. Zone into Trakanon's Teeth
2. Die (eg run into a mob or quickly duel someone before it lags out)
3. Port/run back and zone back into trakanon's teeth, the lag issue will be gone for this session. Loot corpse/rez then do what you need to do here before zoning out again because next time it will be screwed again.

Thing is you are slowly desyncing with server until LD, your actions in game will happen with huge delays, but will happen, until your just a ghost.

BUT

if you are able to make it resync with you like, trading with someone, something that obligates server to acknowledge your client, you will resync and maintain stable.

Whenever I watch a stream,soundcloud,mixcloud or am just downloading a lot(probably tranny porn) I get the dreaded TT bug 90% of the time. When im not doing any of that I get it maybe 1% of the time. I'm using a wireless connection.

Also whenever I finished zoning in Trakanon's teeth, my connection/computer kinda freeze for a second and then it seems to resync back. Thats when the bug happens. If you're downloading/uploading at that very moment , youll be desynched.

I was running EQ on mac OS, and had the same experience as above.

Once i installed windows 7, on the same hardware, and the same internet connection, i have not had this problem even once. (i should also add, i got a new router in the mean time).

zone/log into TT
cast a spell (non casters migth be able to use a clicky like jboots or gobbie earring, not sure)
wait and see if cast bar pops back or for bard if you can sing a different song

if you cant, camp or /q (might require a restart of eq if it crashes or doesnt pop you to character select)

repeat until the spell works without any delays
test it a few times to be sure of stability

i've had to do this a few times. but once you got a proper stable connection it seems to remain that wai until you zone. sometimes you might have to camp and crash 4 or 5 times
