People talked about Kringe like he was good, and he always acts kinda big time - never really knew why 3.0 TDT kinda dominated, red99 early as his necro was meh, barely active I jousted him on LOZ and it was mediocore.

Then he managed to unite the clans and lead 50 man armies up nihilum's ass and whooped me in CT - def entered pro status in my eyes after that shit.

Does anyone remember Mortalquest?

Permadeath on a server is really enjoyable, but to be honest it just doesnt mesh with classic EQ. Mortalquest had an exp rate in place, where if you REALLY spent a day grinding you could reach level 50.
That server actually had 100+ people on when it came out, but honestly after dying to some bullshit after spending hours leveling your char, is really not very fun, and lots of people quit.

One memory from that server was this cleric who died at level 50 to some holocaust guy in the morning, then spends 10 hours grinding the entire day. The guy that killed him in the morning logs after work and kills him within 10 minutes. At the end the playerbase sort of dwindled, and we just dueled each other to the death for fun.

It will be good once beta ends and velious is getting boring or something.

Right now this server still has a lot of growing to do, and hopefully future patches actually fix broken things instead of nerf things to make them more classic when this box is totally custom anyways.

Here's what you need for a discord type server:
Not perma death but, instead a very harsh penalty for death, like all items drop upon death, even no drop items. Significant level loss - 2-5 levels / 4-5 hours of exp time.

Also I would recommend custom items and dungeons, this aspect would make it very fun to explore dangerous places with the threat of perma death looming over you. The chance at loot, if even temporary until you die, would drive people.


Alternate ideas: capping level at 20, design all dungeons to fit with that level scheme
Capturable outposts and player positioned guards - this is a feature I really though was cool from one of the soldiers and kings server

Wishing Kringe and crew never would of quit. Could of been leader of the guild that destroyed Nilly and became legendary. Oh well.

I'm just a huge proponent of team man... If we aren't helping our lower level guys while constantly pressuring Nihilum's high end groups there is no morale... I tried to instill a "Guild Factor", if you will, into everyone where anyone online would know that if you corpse camped so and so with 3-4 toons anyone online would drop everything on a whim and we would come to your aid, then apply pressure in return to the opposition... Unfortunately there were just too many people (from what I had to choose from) that were to involved in themselves to see the bigger picture (would rather farm their 10th and 11th Fungis etc than to come help lock down/drive out the important zones we needed to apply pressure too)... That drove my ambition to lead right out the door.....

Maybe one day tho someone will step up and get those guys together..
