New player- what class?
I've been playing on other EMU servers (most notably EZ server) and i'm looking for a change. I've been creeping on these forums for a while now, and it doesn't look like Red is a hospitable place for new players to play but I'm willing to give it ago regardless.
The population seems to be very low as compared to blue server, so I was wondering what class can actually solo without being twinked / powerleveled? I always liked casters wizard/enchanter more than pet classes but i assume it's probably better to solo with a pet class. It's been awhile since I've had to solo so I'm not sure about the solo capabilities of most classes. I heard there was an XP bonus on this server, is that still true or is that temporary? Thanks

Enchanters might be the best solo class in the game. You can solo 1-60 effectively with charm, plus they're capable of soloing nearly any dungeon camp in the game at 60. Given the availability of camps on red, you could farm for solid money drops on your way up.
Mages, Necros, Wizards, Shaman are all good outdoor soloers. All the hybrids are decent soloers, but the exp penalty hurts. Monks are the only pure melee I'd want to try leveling untwinked. And there are always bards, who can aoe kite for pretty crazy exp. Quote:

I leveled up to 50+ more or less untwinked fairly easily as a shaman. My brother has his monk up to 48 with minor twinkage, nothing crazy. Almost all solo.
I'd say you're good with pretty much any class except a warrior, rogue and probably wizard. I'd hold off on sk/ranger till the removal of the hybrid penalty in Velious. Bards get penalized but more than make up for it with the swarm kite capabilities. It will be difficult to find rezzes, and ench solo'ing is very effective but you're gonna eat some deaths on bad charm breaks/resists. In my opinion if you want a class with a good mix of survivability, utility and leveling speed I'd go with druid. You can make very solid cash porting people too, it can be rough to find ports.
