Default Unable to login

Hey all, first thank you for checking this thread. I'm having a problem logging into project 1999. I've installed everything correctly, have myself registered with the login server, have set correct permissions etc. When I choose EQ 1999 from the server list it launches, but all I get is a black screen with the mouse. I haven't been able to put it into windowed mode yet but I think that will fix it because I was able to see it for a split second when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with it but couldn't reproduce it.

So basically the problem is I can't see anything after I launch, therefore I can't click on login and etc. Could this just be a video card problem or a settings problem? Like I said the mouse graphic shows up just fine but that is it. I have a GTS 450 with latest drivers so it shouldn't be an issue. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Merekai

Are you using dual monitors? EQ wont run fullscreen with dual monitors and give you a black screen error like your stating. Somewhere in the eqclient you can change to window mode but not sure of actual spot.

Yes, I am running dual monitors. I'll poke around and see if I can change the setting somewhere. Thanks for the response!

Thanks that did fix it for me, but unfortunately I'm having the same problem again and I am still just using the single monitor. I'm not sure if it is a resolution thing or what, but seeing as how I can't change anything until I'm in game, and I can't even get past the EULA screen, I may have to just reinstall everything and hope it works ok.

Ok, so this thread talks about duel monitors

http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...d.php?p=712758

The solution there was: Try running EQ under WinEQ2, Found at Http://www.lavishsoft.com.

This is what I was looking for:

I can tell you that most of the issues I've run into with the game not starting properly stemmed from windowed mode not being set correctly in eqclient.ini. For starters, open that file in a text editor and see that you have lines that look like this:

Code:
WindowedMode=TRUE

WidthWindowed=1024
HeightWindowed=768
WindowedWidth=1024
WindowedHeight=768
If the height/width numbers are different, that's probably fine. Any resolution you want should work. I think all that matters is that both resolutions match, and that WindowedMode is set to true.

Thanks Lyra I appreciate you finding this info! I found a work around which involved using one of my smaller monitors but I will give WinEQ2 a try and see if that helps. I've been finding things to be pretty buggy as now I'm having issues with fatal errors from memory unable to be read, which I don't think is related to the display issue. Thanks again for the help!

Kai

Edit: This fixed everything for me! Thanks for being patient with me and giving great info! See you in game [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
