Default Error - a timeout occurred

Hello, I recently installed EQ Titanium and did all the required changes for it to run with the Emu servers. The game was working fine and dandy until one point where it froze after 4 or so hours of play. Took me around an hour for everything to stop not letting me in and keep playing, and after that ran smoothly for the next 4 hours before the same thing happened.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, edited and pretty much done everything I could think of -- but this time it simply refuses to log back into the server, and now has gone to refusing to log into the Server List as well. It managed to go through once, and after selecting my character and hitting Enter World it stopped working.

Any help you guys can provided would be very welcomed -- I'm not exactly the most computer savvy in the world, but I'm pretty sure I followed all the steps for installment and the Project 1999 steps to be able to play perfectly. So I really don't know what else to do now.

If your timing out its likely not going to be related to your install, it sounds like a network issue, A time out happens when a server takes to long to respond. Please post your connection type ie ADSL Cable etc and weather or not your going through a router, you could also try turning off your firewall if you have one running the fact that you were able to connect leads me to believe this wont be the issue though.
**edit**
If you are running through a router please post the make and model

I get it like 2-3 seconds right after clicking Login, even if I type gibberish into the login account and password. Which is odd, since it was working just fine before and I hadn't modified anything.

Also, can you explain to me how to get all that info? I'm afraid I'm not exactly computer savvy, so yeah. I've read around a few old threads of this same issue a few years back, it seemed some people resolved it by downloading an eqhost.txt from someone whose login screen was allowing them to connect into the server list.

But those where from 4-5 years ago.

Also, when it originally worked my firewall was on but it gave no problem. Now it gives me the timeout even if the firewall is completely off.

Make sure the text in your eqhoste file is exactly what is posted here http://www.eqemulator.org/wiki/wikka...akka=PlayGuide for your EQ client. Are you able to connect to http://www.eqemulator.org ?

It is copy and pasted /exactly/ like it says there. And it doesn't get changed or anything when I try to open EQEmu, but remains the same.

And connect as in open the website? If so yes, I can open and browse and even look at the server list etc just fine.

imag's suggestion on the eqemu of installing wire shark and doing a packet capture is the next step, my only other suggestion would be if you have a second computer you could install to give that a try at least you'd know if its your machine or not.

A LOT of people are all of a sudden having problems with the EmuEQ login server. I think something might be wrong with ITs network or the machine itself. Or perhaps that asshat that got banned and tried denial of service attacks on OUR server has moved his focus, as a way to get at P99 around the back.
