Quest Issue: Key to Cobalt Scar

I'm trying to complete this quest, but I'm having trouble giving Wenglawks the 200pp and Message to Wenglawks.

If I drop either the 200pp or Message to Wenglawks on him, the trade window opens up, but then it disappears about a second later, saying "The trade has been cancelled". I've tried giving the 200pp first, and the Message first, but same result either way. I'm not pressing the Give button on the trade window, but it always disappears before I can add the second item to it.

I've tried this a few times now (both invis and non-invis). He cons indifferent to me.

Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong here?

Are you standing too far away from Wenglawks?

Yes that was it, thank you! It didn't show the error message about it being too far away. It looks like if you're within a certain range, it doesn't show the error message, but just cancels the trade.
