Miscellaneous: Singing short sword not secondary equippable till luclin

Today, October 1st 2000, at 1am PST, Thott finished the bard FA quest. As far as we know, this is the first Singing Short Sword to exist on any production server.

The weapon can be wielded in either hand, but will not go in the ranged slot (unlike the rogue FA weapon), which means it's useless when the bard us using an instrument.

I remember this too, the QQ from bards not being able to main hand NToV and Primal weapons because they'd have to sacrifice using their epic will be burned into my mind forever.

I'm far to lazy to go through or even find that page with all the patch notes, but if you dig I'm 99% sure you'll find them changing it around a couple times =p

Finally, the Singing Shortsword can now be equipped in the off hand and still give full song enhancing benefits.

What do you guys think this means? Was it equippable in offhand and just didn't give the singing bonus, or was it not main hand only prior to this patch?

I'm looking to find the crying that the SSS wasn't primary equippable at all but I'm not finding it.

EDIT: To add, the current SSS on P99 does not have the correct 100hp/0mana at the moment last I heard from Fauss. IIRC the other stat adjustments were correct.

Patch Note History October 8th 2001

Bards have had their 1h blunt and 1h slash skill caps increased to
250. Their piercing skill cap has been increased to 240. Their Offense
skill cap has been raised to 252. Bards are also being moved to the
same combat table with all the other melee and hybrid classes (save
monks who have separate tables after level 55). Bards Parry skill cap
has been raised to 185 as well. Finally, the Singing Shortsword can now
be equipped in the off hand and still give full song enhancing
benefits.

Ok, I actually have one now =P STA needs to be changed to 5 from the current 10, and CHA from the current 15 to 20, in addition to the HP increase/mana elimination.

I obtained my SSS today on the Cazic Thule server. Here are the differences from the one Afterlife got.


5 less STA
+5 more CHA
50 more HP
no more mana bonus

This should have occurred with the majority of epic upgrades that happened with the revamp on the same day.
