Hey, guys. I have a problem with my client. It doesn't play those awesome midi tunes ingame. I tried to reinstall, but still nothing. Anyway to fix that ?

I have the same problem, I actually made a thread about it a few months back as well. It sucks, I mean sound effects all work fine (foot steps, waves hitting the shore, the weapon swing noises, the "ooh!" and "ah!" of taking damage and doing damage) all the sound effects work fine (thank god there's that =p) but the aspect of the game that truly makes it feel classic, the music, is gone, not working, fucked up. I mean I was so damn happy to know that p99 used the real combat music (at least one of the tracks) instead of that shit Luclin auto attack music, that brought back so many memories, ah I really hope this gets fixed soon.

This would be a client issue. Not a server issue. As such everyone would have it. We don't. However this does pop up from time to time. I've had it before as well. While I can't say for certain what caused it I can tell you how I fixed it.

Download this, extract the files from the winrar to your Everquest folder while you are completely out of the game. Overwrite if asked. Tell me if it fixes it.

I've had this problem before and it was my computer settings that caused it. Go into whatever audio program your computer has ( I have Realtek audio manager ) or the basic master volume thing and make sure that the SW synth is not off. Whenever my music wasn't working that was the problem. Somehow it would get turned down and then bam, I could'nt hear eq music but I could hear everything else.

Make sure that ingame the Environment Sounds button is activated. You can't hear music with that off. Hope this helped.

WOOOOO!! Hell yeah that worked! Oh my god I feel like such a fool for not even thinking it was something in my computers audio that messed it up. Yeah I had MIDI synth muted (windows xp) Oh man.. thank you so much, I was at my wits end, I was convinced it was something in the client/server or whatever. Fuck yeah I can enjoy the game as it was meant to be. And I know a large amount of players don't even listen to the music at all when they play, but I love the old classic midi music =) Yes! Hell yeah this kicks ass! Utenan, you the man. =D

Tried everything mentioned here, and still nothing. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I'll try some more tweaking with audio settings and drivers...

OMFG thank you Danyelle, I've played P99 for over 2 years and have never had music working except in a couple areas.

This is blowing my mind how awesome it is to have music working correctly!

I highly suggest everyone follows your advice if they are not hearing in-game music consistently.

No problem man.

That's what worked for me. Some people may have Utenan's problem. If neither solution fixes the problem I'm afraid I don't know what to tell you =/
