Was around in Kunark from the lists I have, but the high trivial value makes me question if it was Classic.

It's 168 and requires foraged items.
I'm pretty sure unless someone can show that it wasn't in classic it should be on this server.
You could hit 200 skill in brewing on classic couldn't you?

I recall doing brewing with Minotaur Hero's Brew, which will get you to 200. I think.

Flask of Karana Brown Tea = 2 tea leaves(foraged) + 1 flask of water
Frost Temper = Brandy + Ice Goblin Blood + 2 Essence of Winter
Ginesh = Vegetables (a druid or ranger can help here) + Water + Shotglass + Short of beer
etc....
This is taken from thesilversandbox.net archive, skills tab, brewing guide.
And yes, Minotaur Hero's Brew is listed as well.

That is the list I have, well one of them rather. The list is from Kunark, not classic >> tempers and embalming fluid
http://www.scribd.com/doc/33292952/Brewing is the current trimmed list I am working with.

Good list. But it doesn't say anywhere that this combine was not around during classic.
Every ingredient in the combine is something that was used in some other classic recipe.
I can't think of a single reason why this should not be in the game. The only reason it appears as questionable on your list is because of the foraged item but foraged vegetables were very much classic and part of other combines (ie: brandy).
Fetid Essence on the other hand is in the game and definitely shouldn't be!
It's not even on the list you provided.
Currently the train of thought is that it should be in the game unless you have definitive proof that it should not be in the game.
(IE: fine plate armor combines)

(IE: fine plate armor combines)
Fine plate armor combines went in on 10-13 99, along with a number of other smithing recipes.
Also the Brandy being on that confirmed classic list is my mistake, good catch.
Anything with foraged vegetables should be on the questionable list as of right now.
There's a couple reasons why I have vegetables flagged atm as a point of interest.
There were 3 different major batches of recipes added that used vegetables from what I can tell
-the first came in 6 07 1999, these are mostly classic brewing recipes
-the second came in Kunark and are in a number of 2000+2001 lists for baking and brewing
-the last batch was the one that added Elven and Dwarven Dressings, etc. These are right out.

Gotcha! Well in that case let us know how your research goes. I'm curious.

Vodka should be in the confirmed list, it's in the Halas Heaters recipe so I might not have uploaded my most recent version of it, oops.
There's a whole lot of trivs in the 150-168s which has me wondering.
That list is all early Kunark or older. I have managed to trim the last big bunch of added recipes with vodka and veggies, and just have to split the classic from the kunark.
Also going through and doublechecking on yields for everything. Think it's possible some on p1999 aren't returning enough.

Well finding even one recipe that uses foraged vegetables is a good sign for me.
What about the recipe books in the game? I know baking has them. Wouldn't checking what's in the drink recipe books give an idea of what was released when?
Another thought would be to look at the EQ item ID numbers. Hulgarsh for example is EQ item ID: 16586.
Not sure if they are in any sort of chronological order but if they are you would be able to show what expansion they were released in by what comes before and/or after it. Just a thought...

It's an okay place to start, except I know there is some overlap between recipes in the books chronologically in some tradeskills, and I also don't know if some books were updated over time. Some of the recipe books in P1999 (A couple in smithing for example) are just blank, or filled with jumbled words and garbled gobblede**** right now, so will need to hunt them down on a live account or in the web.

Not sure exactly how itemIDs work, or if they can be relied upon in that way. We all know that there was plenty of stuff in the game ahead of its time, and that it can be in game files without actually being in game.
Leaning towards batch adds by patch/date right now, although there is some oddities that crop up.
Bog Juice is 16581
Elven Wine is 13035
Minotaur Hero's Brew is 19198
Ol' Tujim's Fierce Brew is 16585
Short Ale is 13018
Short Beer is 13032
Tumpy Tonic is 12114
Vodka is 16582
(AFAIK those are all classic)
Frost Temper is 22531
Scale Temper is 22513
Sea Temper is 22546
Shadow Temper is 22512
(Kunark cultural tempers)
Flask of Karana Brown Tea 22557
Flask of Berry Juice 22558
Elven Dressing is 58275
(wayyyyyyyyyy later timewise as we know)
Embalming Fluid though (confirmed Kunark) is 12410 ???
Legion Lager (confirmed Kunark) is 12463 ???
(No clue what is going on with 12XXX, possibly flagged as quest components and go in a different cluster range??? Tumpy Tonic is also 12XXX)

As an aside vegetables are 13419 :)

It would make sense for them to reserve some sets of numbers in the database and so far you seem to be coming up with good explanations for the orders of things.
Nice work man!

Most ItemID batches are apparently by update.
There appears to be no major blanks/filler spaces left at the time once you get into the 5 digit IDs.

Forgive me, does that enforce my case for the item to be in the game?
