Research skill is in red and stuck at 15

My research skill is at 15 and will not allow me to train the skill higher on my enchanter. It also shows up in red numbers on the Skills list.

Just did hit lvl 18. Should be a lvl cap of Level*5 I believe but you cannot learn research until 16 so when I trained the first time it should have placed me at skill 16 immediately. I don't understand how I downgraded from 16 to 15 to begin with. I should have a max of around 90 or 95 currently.

Research is a level restricted skill. As such, your max skill is: (Level - 15) x 5 When you train Research at level 16, it starts your skill at Skill 16, far above the maximum possible by this formula. As such you cannot increase your skill any higher until level 19.

your max skill is: (Level - 15) x 5

Fortunately the increase in required skill doesn't go up by 25 between each level, so you do eventually come close to catching up. I think it's about level 48 for a level 44 spell, and level 51 gets you 1 point off trivial for a level 49 spell.
