Just wondering if this is a change as intended with the recent patch. Seems root is wearing off almost instantly for Clerics and Shamans on Fire Giants.

Can confirm... root wearing off as soon as you get out of melee range.
Is this a ninja change or bug?

Same with the Frost Giants in perma post patch. Not sure if it was the case beforehand.

Was not the case *for fire giants* before patch. I root parked fire giant adds in SolB plenty of times.

Just died as all 4 of my Paralyzing Earths wore off FGs at one time. Have screenshot, can post.

Those FGs were extremely magic resistant on live.
Maybe root fading based on an MR check per tick is working.
You should see me try to root a green con High Elf guard on my 60 wiz on live.
They're green and will not stay rooted (in town guards had VERY high resists as well)

I don't think they were... they were rootable at the least. But I don't see how it's relevant. This is a ninja change/bug introduced from the latest patch.

This is a fire giant specific issue. For a long time the giants were basically unrootable - it would last 1 tick at most. This is why (combined with being belly casters and immune to stun) a bunch of low 50s mobs made the Solo Artist Challenge GM list. Then for 6 months or so they lost this special ability and could be parked normally. And now they have been ninja patched back. Whether this is classic or not I don't know, but its not some random MR issue.

It seems whatever Kanras fixed on 6/6/2012 was reverted back by the recent patch.
