View Full Version : Game Mechanics: Range check to Pet DS change applies to ALL Pet messages

Haynar: Fixed non-melee damage (i.e. damage shield) from pets, to now be sent to their owner. Added a range check to these messages, so owner has to be close by.
This changes has been applied to ALL messages from pets, not just damage shields. I can't see my pet's melee unless I'm right up close to where they are fighting.
As an enchanter, I like to stay as far away as possible in case of charm breaks, but I want to see hits so I can gauge what level my charmed pet is.
So either fix it so that it only applies to damage shields like the above patch note says, or increase all messages to AT LEAST max spell casting range.

Seriously? Ur telling me to "fix it" per you demands?
Be happy to implement your request, $75/hr, 3 hr minimum. If you are up for it, I will post a paypal link you can donate to.
Have a nice day. I look forward to doing business with you.

I'm not demanding anything - check your eyes. Leave it broken for all I care.
I just listed two possible solutions, don't be so defensive.

Your last paragraph hassled the Hoff a bit.

It doesn't say "Either fix it or else", it says "Fix it this way or this way".
I gave the only two possible solutions to the problem.

Sounds Classic.

Run closer to check max hit, and then go back to favored distance.

You are telling a developer that volunteer's his free time his "options" and what he should do. Decisions and changes are not based on what players tell us to do, it's based on research towards making the server as classic as possible.
If you provide research that goes against a change, we will look at it and make a decision on if it can and should be changed.

You trying to troll your own guild? Trying to convince people that BDA really is full of retards like the R&F folk would have us believe? Lol.

What the hell are you talking about? I am posting a legitimate bug not some troll.

It says in the patch notes that this range change was meant to apply to Damage Shields - it is applying to all pet melee, pet messages, etc. It has nothing to do with being classic or not in this case.
Do you need me to post screenshots or something? It's not like it's hard to recreate.
I've seen several people complaining about it in other parts of the forum so I went ahead and made a bug post to alert the developers so they can fix it whenever they feel like. I presented the two most logical ways to fix the problem, but do whatever you want.

I'll second this. As an Enchanter it makes my life very difficult :( I hope its a bug and not intended.

Well blah blah blah.
Making easier for enchanters motivates me none.
Best i can go by is eqlive to determine how far you see pet hits and pet ds messages. If i am already taking a look at melee messages, i can look at range of ds messages.
I want to play with a few things on live tonight, and might bring out a fire pet to smoke some mobs for fun.

Hello, did you ever get a chance to do this? As of now I have to be within 5 feet or so of the mob to see my pets damage messages. It also seems off because I will send my pet into fight when I am far away and of course see no damage notifications, but when I get up close, I still wont see anything literally right on top of the mob. If I send my pet in while Im right next to it to begin with then I see the messages until I move, away, but then wont see the messages if I move back in. Today I had a mob catch up to me and was literally beating on me with my pet right behind him and I still couldn't see any damage messages, because I had sent him in initially while the mob was like 50ft away. Any insight you could give would be appreciated! Thanks!
