View Full Version : Miscellaneous: Corrupt Qeynos Guards

There is Guards of Qeynos Faction and Corrupt Qeynos Guards Faction, the guards in West Karana, for example: Guard McCluskey in the tower near the water. [Face Qeynos Hills and hug your wall on left] are suppose to be Corrupt, but when you con them and kill them its as they are on Guards of Qeynos faction, when they should be on Corrupt.

To further prove it, I killed Guard McCluskey and looted "Guard Bracer", it is turned into Captain Linarius at the top of North Karana tower at the bridge for exp, faction and crap reward. When turning in the bracer you recieve + Guards of Qeynos -Corrupt Guards which is functioning properly, even though you get -Guards of Qeynos and +Corrupt Guards to get the actual bracer.

It appears there is no corrupt guards to be killed in the Karanas because they are all on the same faction as good guards.
Not only killing the guards was somewhat decent exp but the possitive side to it was turning in the bracer for exp which was almost better then the guards itself. Turning in the bracer didnt even give me 1% exp at level 46, when the guards con blue to kill. Seems it needs to be boosted just like the RunnyEye Warbeads in Rivervale had to be.
Also both links for the Guard and Captain have posts dating back to 2000, pretty rare considering most are 2001+ !

This poster is correct. All Qeynos guards (save Lt. Dagnarok, who uses bloodsaber faction) /consider the same, with normal guards and corrupt guards not having any difference.

I don't recall very many cases on live where a simple item drop turn in quest would net a visible exp reward at high levels, especially not at 46. (exceptions would include Tumpy Tonics but even that involved a bigger time sink and travel)
Usually by that point quests are merely done for the item reward or the faction boost, but exp quests? Is that really how it was on live? With the mob and the turn in location being that close?
I'm not doubting necessarily, just shocked.

Can anyone provide me a list of names of the guards that should be on corrupt Qeynos faction (especially those with regards to dropping the bracelet)
Note-to-self: NPC_Faction_ID#2494
Get me a list of NPC names and zones they occupy, and we can add Lt. Dagnarok (or whatever) faction ID# to the corrupt guards.

Not exactly. A lot of those NPCs lower the faction of Corrupt Qeynos guards, but their Primary faction is not actually the corrupt faction.
I guess what I am looking for is the guards in question. People have brought up their concerns that the guard(s) they are killing for bracelets are on the regular guard faction. According to the thread people were most concerned about getting these specifics guards fixed as well as the exp rate of the quest.
The problem is that Alla is only listing a single guard who drops the bracelet, not sure who else should be dropping it.

All of these show up in Alla as guards that lower the CQG faction when killed. According to this site (http://www.angelfire.com/bc/brentcopeland/nkaranas.html) from the classic resource thread, Guard Donlan, who hangs out in the same guard tower where Guard McCluskey is in West Karana, should definitely drop the corrupt guard bracelet. A post from May 2000 (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=2729&page=1&howmany=50#m9230) in Guard McCluskey's Alla entry says: The experience is very good for this killing these two guards. But the best thing is that they drop a guard bracelet almost every time. This no drop item can be turned into Capt Linarius in the stone bridge tower in North Karana for a few gp, usually a mid level bronze or steel weapon and more *experience*.

Fixed, pending update.
corrupt bracers on corrupt guards. loyal bracers on loyal guards.. faction on donlan and mccluskey is now bloodsabers, but they will still protect vs animals, etc.
Guard Donlan and McCluskey primary faction is Corrupt Qeynos Guard, not Bloodsabers. This lead me to an unpleasant whooping by Lt. Dagarok in Qeynos who I thought wasn't KoS. QQ =[
I was wrong, the guards in the WK are of the proper faction. I believe the culprit is Lt. Dagarok - he is not coded as the correct faction. He whacked me in town when my standings with Corrupt Qeynos Guards faction really WAS amiably. He should be changed to CQG faction but what is he currently coded as anyhoo ?
I will make a thread about it, sorry for the mixup.

Lieutenant Dagarok is not a Corrupt Guard. He is a member of the bloodsabers.
Did this quest tonight and the Bracers are accepted but no exp was given when handed them in. Still recived the normal reward however and a message of receiving experience but it did not go up at all with 6 turnings. Disappointing.
Bracers are supposed to be turned into Capt. Linarius in NK

As of 11/22 this quest is still giving no discernible exp at level 30. Could a dev take a look at it?
