SoulFire charges can only be used by Paladins (though they can be used from inventory).
This patch occurred less than a month into Velious. Or about 9 months after Kunark release. A timeframe we are far past on this server.
This item as it stands creates a large balance issue giving players the ability to CH 5 times instantly from any class.
Could use fixing.

Touche! I fail at reading.
Even still we are past that timeframe on this server. SoulFire has been clickable by all classes long enough at this point in time.
Can't Nerf soulfire, we haven't even had a test of tactics yet.

odd that all the exploits that trivialize encounters (binding in raid zones, soul fires, and item recharging) are all removed from red but not blue.

im with nilbog in that i am on the NPCs team. i hate when people dumb down encounters with exploits. eq raiding should be challenging not a click fest :)
so im not whining that they are on red. im actually praising the devs with giving us more challenging content. i just wish everyone understood the "vision" like us old schoolers do.

The reason they are removed from red is because they are even more OP in a PvP competition.

It is pretty dumb things like puppet strings can be recharged on blue /shrug

While we're bringing up Red/Blue differences, pets at high level on red still aren't innately dual wielding. Have to give them rusty weapons :(

This dude is so on point... ALL THE DAMNED TIME.
I remember the glorious RZ win.

I'd like to see a Test of Tactics where tactics was the deciding factor and not clickies :)
We don't wanna see another Best of the Boulder time tourney now do we?

The game you want is not Everquest.
Need some Blade Stoppers and Teeth as well for this ToT.

If Trakanons Teeth were included in the Test of Tactics that would be absolutely fucking retarded. Let alone SoulFire and other OP clickies. But... That is why EQ is a terrible PvP game.
Regardless. SoulFire should've been nerfed a year ago to be paladin click only.

Sorry pal but there are a lot of things that were not and are not part of the classic "vision." Things like item recharging, MQing epics on characters not even capable to enter the Planes, Soul Fires, and so on either weren't intended at all or weren't expected to be this exploited. The idea of EverQuest was hard work, not ez mode. P99 is not like it was 15 years ago, if you had played back then you would know. Had these exploits been used like they are today, there is no doubt in my mind the ORIGINAL devs would have nerfed this stuff to the ground.
Again if you want trivial content you could always login live with your free level 85 and rape everything in sight. Get this crap off my beloved Classic EverQuest box. At least Red is legit.
Recharging and SoulFires were indeed not part of the vision (hence the nerf), the issue is that they weren't removed from the vision until PoP and Luclin. There's a boatload of other stuff that was eventually nerfed or buffed as well.
What is part of the vision of live and what is part of the vision here are different. I don't speak for Nilbog or Rogean, but this server seems to be set on mechanically being what Everquest was over this time period rather than what the original developers intended Everquest to be at that time period.
P99 is not like it was 15 years ago. For starters, we have seen this content before. It is one reason the game is much easier. I'm not going to go into the Magi Tower without Life 3 after my first visit. Anyhow, there is no way to return to a time before the information era. Our best bet (and what I think is the vision here) is to make Project 1999 as similar to Live 1999 from a mechanical standpoint. It's going to be impossible to make people the same as Live-1999.
If you're going to argue that we should have Luclin era fixes because we've been in Kunark for years, then I want my longer duration Bard charm. And upgraded bard offensive skills. And upgraded hybrid damage tables... all of which were in game before the SoulFire fix. You see how this will end up?
You guys seriously need to quit it with this anti-SoulFire crusade. SoulFires are like the P99 equivalent to the gun control debate. The use of SoulFires on this server is *greatly* exaggerated and this isn't a classic fix... so gtfo of here wasting Dev's time with your weak ass bug reports.
