Red Headband

I had gathered all the ingredients needed to go straight from no headband all the way through to the red, but in my turn-in haste I forgot to notice that Phin Esrinap is only the quest giver up to the orange headband and the turn-ins for the red goes to Togahn Sorast. So I gave the two heads, the skull and my orange headband to Esrinap, who simply took them and did nothing. He should have given them back with the phrase like "these are of no use to me", but he returned nothing to me, not even my orange headband, so now I'm forced to start all over.

Please rectify.

In classic NPCs would eat quest items they didn't need, not return and tell you they are no use.

Yikes! I'd totally forgot, having been spoiled rotten on a live server last year. I'd better learn to research thoroughly and not let my eagerness get the better of me then.
