Rogue epic- Anson McBale

Description: Rogue epic quest turn in. Giving Stanos' Pouch to Anson McBale in Highpass Hold to spawn Stanos. Did the sneak trick to gain indifferent faction with Anson, made sure to not be standing on Stanos' spawn point. Gave Stanos' Pouch to Anson, he took it but did not spawn Stanos.

Relevant NPCs: Anson McBale, Stanos Herkanor

Steps to reproduce bug:
Obtain Stanos' Pouch, spawn Anson and give him the pouch. Then, nothing...

where did you read you give the pouch to Anson?

you have to have a lvl 50 rogue talk to Anson to spawn Stanos....I think you say

"I need to see Stanos" or something and Stanos spawns...

then you hand him General's Pouch, Jagged Diamond Dagger and Cazic Quill for the rogue epic

no items get turned into Anson.

I read on the p99 wiki and allakhazam that you need high faction with anson to ask to see stanos. Im apprehensive to Anson and even using the sneak trick he won't spawn Stanos. It also said another way to get him to spawn then was to give Anson stanos' pouch. Just tried again this morning, can attach a screenshot if necessary. All it will show is me saying "i need to see stanos" about 50 times to no avail.

And yes, I am a level 50 rogue.

If you are invisible aka hide/sneak, mobs will not respond to text for quest prompts

sneak/hide is solely for 'turning in' quest pieces, not to talk to monsters

because think of it this way, you are invisible to them..why would they respond?


also Stano's pouch....im not sure what that is at all. I dont play a rogue only recently just did the epic quest and the pouch you turn in to complete the epic is called "General's Pouch" so maybe theres a different side quest to also spawn Stanos?

Looks like you probably need to be indif tho without invis/hide to get Anson to respond. A friendly lvl 50 rogue with faction can spawn Stanos for you

I had this problem today on Red99 -

Am Amiable to Anson McBale, and cannot get him to spawn Stanos Herkanor through the phrase "I need to speak to Stanos." OR by turning in the Stanos' Pouch.

Both should spawn Stanos, which is necessary for progressing through the quest.

Stanos' Pouch is different from General's Pouch -

Stanos' Pouch is from Malka Rale / Vilnius the Small, and is the first thing you do to progress through the plotline of the epic. After the bounty quests in the Karana's, you are told to hand the Stanos' Pouch in from Vilnius to Anson to get a hold of Stanos.

The General's Pouch is the last piece of the epic turn in, dropped off a spawned General V'ghera. This goes to Stanos, along with the two daggers you get from Vilnius.

You can't turn these in and receive you epic, however, until Anson spawns Stanos. So you can see why this is a major concern for us rogues! He just ate my Stanos' Pouch!

if you were sneak/hidden behind Anson and he conned indif, turning in the pouch that Imago mentions should have worked as long as he conned indif

he will not spawn Stanos by text if you are apprehensive and he will not spawn him if you are invisible

The Stanos' Pouch requires no faction though, only the phrase does. So the fact that Anson eats the Pouch without a response means something is up.

The real problem is that sneak isn't allowing you to interact with NPCs via text. If an NPC will give you quest dialogue at indifferent faction, sneak should work for this. This was disabled when they nerfed text triggers while being invised which was allowed for a time and rightly changed.

It should be possible to speak with a KoS npc using sneak. They then turn around to face you and smash your face in if you don't hit hide quick enough. Game is broken atm.

Stanos pouch from Malka should absolutely spawn Stanos as well, and it doesn't atm.

As a band-aid solution... You should be able to fix Highpass faction with the quest Rogue Errands (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=523) by repeating the part with Jracol. I haven't tested this yet, however.

Thanks for all the help, I just wanted to clarify sneak trick was only using sneak behind Anson and I was not using hide.

Also, I'm just starting the rogue epic quest, my rogue is my first char on the server and also my main. And this isn't the end turn in with the general's pouch.

Four times I've given Anson Stanos' pouch, four treks from qeynos aqueducts to highpass. One turn in was with the company of a GM. This is my first post to the forums, I would not have posted unless I was out of options otherwise. I hope this is resolved for everyone asap. Wish me luck with my epic quest :)

Yep, did this many many times over the years. One finger hitting enter to send the dialogue to the NPC, the other hitting my Hide hotkey a split second later.

Yea turning in pouch with Amiable faction doesn't spawn Stanos. Its borked.

Just double checked this. Turned in Pouch at Amiable faction, Anson just eats it.

Turning in pouch at any non-KoS faction should spawn Stanos.

Level 50+ Rogue is irrelevant. Turning in the pouch and saying the phrase (given faction) from anyone should spawn it.

I can't think of a single quest mechanic in Classic/Kunark that checks your class.

Race, Faction, Level... Sure. Nothing checked your class.

Plane of Sky Efreeti's wont spawn the 'follow up' npcs upon the book turn in if you are not the proper class that is associated with that Efreeti

this is why I had Thulack's necro Ammut spawn the necro npc for my druid when I did the Sphinx Amulet turn in

Class has absolutely NO bearing on classic Quests. Quests weren't coded with that much sophistication until later on. Early on EQ they checked only Faction. Later they had a check for Level, Race and eventually Class / Flags.

But in Kunark, that shouldn't be checked against.
