These shouldn't even be dropping they weren't introduced until great tradeskill patch and newbie armor quest patch in May of 2002

That was when regular Grizzly Bear Skins were converted to Thick Grizzly Bear Skins and the bearskin potion bag recipe was switched from Grizzly Bear Skin to Thick Grizzly Bear skin and went Thick Grizzly Bear skins were used in the newbie armor quests

Evidence:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=15913
Mentions what I said that the Thick skin was introduced when they put in the newbie armor quests and thats went they changed the potion bag recipe to reflect that.

If you need more evidence I'll go internet and archive diving if you need me just say.. I find it oddly satisifying

All I can tell ya is what I found out Thick Grizzly Skins weren't introduced til after Luclin was released and therefore shouldn't be on the server. But also before there was Thick Grizzly skins there was just regular Grizzly Bear Skins and during the patch in May 2002 regular skins were converted to thick skins. So did the vials use regular skins before they changed it?

Guess i'll try and look it up

EDIT- I found something on in the archive from EQtraders that lists every skin that drops in Classic, Kunark, and Velious and Thick Grizzly Bear Skins aren't on it. Sure its from a 2002 link but before the May 2002 tradeskill patch when the Thick Skins were introduced. But it even shows just the Regular Grizzly Bear Skins and actually mentions the RV quest and that they are used for the potion bag and poison vials. I believe when the thick skins were introduced the old grizzly bear skins were converted to thick skins and the potion bag and the vials were made to use those instead and later a new Grizzly Bear Skin was introduced so the RV quest could be completed again.

So if this is true the current drop rate for Thick Grizzly Bear Skins should be the new drop rate for Grizzly Bear Skins and the Thick Grizzly Bear skins should be removed.

So heres the pelt link- https://web.archive.org/web/20020203105829/http://www.eqtraders.com/location/find_pelts.htm

Yes both skins are used in the crafted , I asked Den Mother of EQtraders if she had any data of Thick Gizzly Bear Skins from 1999 to 2001. I'm still waiting for a reply but I would like to know my self , I finally updated the wiki with the info and if I'm wrong that it's Veilous or Luclin I would like to update the Wiki .

Well I ya luck on that, I always found EQtraders didn't seem to become THE place to go for crafting to after Velious which in itself classic tradeskills, there really wasn't much to them til velious hit then you had the shawl questline and it breathed life into the EQ tradeskills(well other than jewelry)

EDIT- I think I finally know more proof on the EQtraders message board archive.. https://web.archive.org/web/20020717024315/http://pub126.ezboard.com/feqtraderscornertailoring.showMessage?topicID=4442 .topic

Hello
Just an FYI - regular (pre-June 5th) Grizzly bear skins no longer work with silk cord to make bearskin potion bags.

the new recipe goes like this
1 THICK Grizzly bear hide + 1 Silk cord = 1 Bearskin potion bag

My tailoring skill is at 50 right now so I do not know yet if the trivials have changed there.

And I think between my first post from Alla archive saying that thick grizzly bear skins were called just grizzly bear skins when they introduced the newbie armor quest and this post showing the change about potions bag recipes from the tradeskill patch does help prove thick grizzly bear skins weren't actually in classic but I'll keep digging for concrete proof

I think I finally found concrete proof or at least as concrete you'll probably end up getting short of a email from the dev teams explaining every little change ever made

Woven Yellow Recluse Silk, Grizzly, Coyote, Gnoll Pelts

These are both used for new newbie quests in Freeport and Ak'Anon respectively. It is unlikely they are used in anything else, but if you would like to experiment, go ahead with that warning.

(If there are other new quest items that look like tailoring, feel free to post them here and I'll change the title, but those are the ones we're getting pinged on the most)

Since the patch, there are two different kinds of grizzly bear hides dropping. It seems that thick grizzly bear hides correspond to the old grizzly bear hides, and can be used to make potion bags, whereas the "just plain" grizzly bear hides dropping now are only used for some of the Freeport quests. - Balidil

Same post

Thick Grizzly Bear Skin is used for bearskin potion bags, is wt 5.0 and lage.

Grizzly Bear Skin is used for newbie quests, is wt 0.2 (don't remember size)

All the Grizzly Bear Skin i had in the bank before the patch turned into Thick Grizzly Bear Skin, which gave me the hint. Then i heard a shaman auctioning to buy a potion bag (i know. i was shocked too) so i took the opportunity to make a couple plat and test my hypothesis.

I just got in touch with mum ,

Actually, the site has been around since launch. 2003 was the date we went from static pages that I manually updated to the database that the hubbyogre coded. I have, for some reason, kept a binder of my recipe printouts from 12/22/00 and the poison vials at that time were using "any pelt of skin other than ruined, including zombie skins". The change to using thick grizzly bear skins came with the May 8, 2002 patch.

Hope that helps!

My question is about data for a item called Thick Grizzly Bear Skin , I know this website was made on 2003 but I know it must have taken years to gather up all the data before the website was made. So I was wondering if you have any records of that item from 1999 to 2001? , I update the wiki alot for http://www.project1999.com/ and it's wiki http://wiki.project1999.com/Main_Page . And a bug report came in http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=155386 on the date the item was put into the game , I know it's not you're place to help with a emu of EQ but you have been my go to guide for all things tradeskill . And if you have some time could you help me with my request ??? I use those to get skillups on Pottery
