So I just started this recently. I played a Monk during Kunark and Velious in one of the top guilds in the World at the time and pulled religiously and knew how to pull great. So what the fuck does that have to do with this post?

Line of Sight casting on pulls. Why are mobs casting through the walls? This is ***NOT*** classic . . . I do not know how I can explain how much bullshit this ordeal is.

What is wrong with the spell casting?

I'd like to give an example:

Example #1.) We used to be able to split all the casters in any Dungeon (OS/ LGUK / Mistmoore, whatever example you want to use) because of LOSing their casting - which would then interrupt their spell cast from landing. In which case the non caster MOBS would continue running and you would end up with a single.

Example #2.) Splitting Drakes in TOV - LOS, split. Win. Why? Because casters cant cast through walls.

Why the fuck does this exist if we are doing a "Classic" server and everyone is always bitching about "Not Classic"....This is the most "Un-Classic" mechanic I have experienced.

The one different I remember between classic and here is that in classic, outdoor and indoor zones had different LoS rules.

Indoor zones, all spells required LoS.
Outdoor zones however, only spells like bolts required you actually have line of sight. Just range restriction

However on P99 things like buildings and hills prevent you from casting. Being able to cast on a mob behind a hill is classic, its just very difficult to find evidence of this.

This is the same reason in classic you cannot wall and outdoor dragon's AEs. But you can on an indoor dragon.

I am talking about "MOB (Monster) Casting" Line of Sight Criteria. It is not correct in any such way.

I think the argument on the mob casting LoS is that they need LoS to START a cast, however they will finish the cast regardless of whether you are in LoS or in casting range.

If you think it works otherwise post some monk pulling guides from the era that show this is incorrect.

It is.

NPC's will always finish their casts regardless if you run out of range or behind a wall.

This is classic, sorry.

Initial Cast works yes - and should because you were in LOS. Afterwards it should *Not* be able to cast since LOS has been removed (for any further spell casting).

1.) http://www.roath.demon.co.uk/Feign.htm
Bottom of Page.
"Use walls and line-of-sight to help split up multiple casters"

2.) http://www.monkly-business.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-8933.html
Post from 2001: "Pulling Casters - Casters have a terrible habit of standing in one spot and casting at you over and over instead of coming to the party. This can be circumvented. Once a mob casts a spell it is not line of sight, IE, if you turn a corner the spell will still hit you. However, for most mobs the actually Begin casting a spell, you must generally be line of sight. So running around a corner or around an alcove will bring the mob running directly to a spot that's LOS with you."

Looking for more info. Those two alone though both state how it should work. Initial cast will always happen because you *were* within LOS. After you turn that corner though, and spell cast hits - if you are no longer in LOS it cannot cast. What I am trying to explain is that mobs are *STILL* casting within NON-LOS Parameters (Example: I am LOS around a corner, first spell cast hits, then second spell is being cast and I am still being hit while not within MOB Spell LOS).

Which mob?
Which zone?
Which wall?

PS this is bug reports not rants; tone down your rhetoric.

The way those post describe it is how it currently behaves on this server. I've never had a mob cast a 2nd spell on me without instead running to the corner im at and getting new LOS to cast on me.

As Ele said, a few more specifics would be helpful if there is a certain area that you are having this happen to you on.

As was said, in classic and indoors all that is needed is LoS to start the spell and it will land wherever you are. Outdoors, no LoS is needed. And as is described in your #2 that is how it works here. If you are being casted on indoors without LoS post the zone, mob, location etc
