This is a copy of the post I made Monday during the forced beta after the V34 patch. This is still happening in V35.

Haynar: Items sold to a merchant, will no longer be available to purchase after they are killed.

I sold a Large Snake Rattle to Innkeep Olissa in commons(-387,2713) and then killed her. When she respawned the Large Snake Rattle was still on her list and I was able to purchase it.
[Wed Dec 03 21:07:04 2014] Innkeep Olissa tells you, 'I'll give you 1 silver 4 copper for the Large Snake Rattle.'
[Wed Dec 03 21:07:07 2014] You receive 1 silver 4 copper from Innkeep Olissa for the Large Snake Rattle(s).
[Wed Dec 03 21:07:41 2014] You have slain Innkeep Olissa!
[Wed Dec 03 21:14:28 2014] Innkeep Olissa tells you, 'That'll be 4 silver 7 copper for the Large Snake Rattle.'
[Wed Dec 03 21:14:33 2014] You give 4 silver 7 copper to Innkeep Olissa.

Mauren Frostbeard in thurgadina (-145,217) had an empty inventory. I sold her a Giant Militia Longsword and then killed her. When she respawned the Longsword was still on her list and I was able to purchase it.
[Mon Dec 01 15:59:40 2014] Mauren Frostbeard tells you, 'I'll give you 4 platinum 2 gold 4 silver 9 copper for the Giant Militia Longsword.'
