The "a gnoll hunter" in QHills is supposta drop both the top and bottom pieces of the staff. After about 20 kills spread across red and blue, I have only ever gotten the bottom piece of the staff.

Can someone perhaps check to see that the top part of the staff is dropping properly and at the correct rate?

Very bad luck. I got 4/6 tops.

Thanks for checking. Sooo odd.

Wow, just logged on, killed my 15th on red...and it dropped the top. Got almost all of lvl 4 on this 1 mob. Should have posted sooner.

I spend a lot of time in Qeynos hills when starting new characters and have done that quest a lot. I've had some pretty bad streaks too (about 5 or 6) of the same one but I always eventually got the other half so I think you had a really bad luck streak.

If you are into conspiracy theories though, there are two hunter spawn locations. One is the wanderer that comes up to the blackburrow entrance and the other spawns near Surefall Glade.

I never paid attention if either of those had different drop rates of staff halves. So the BB one could drop the bottom half 75% of the time and the SFG one drop the top one 75% of the time, you could get very streaky if you kill the same one each time.

I was only aware of the one that spawns by SFG on p99 - I could not find another (unless guards kill?). He did drop top finally, but if they had different drop rates that would explain it. /tinfoil hat off

One gnoll paths from the undead ruins side over to near the BB entrance. This is either the other hunter or his PH.

Thanks for the info, I never went over that far on the druid due to the higher level undead in that area. I'll probably kill a couple later to see if he seems to drop top piece more than bottom.

I do think that he may have a pher unlike the SFG one - I have seen a wandering gnoll now that I think about it in that area.
