View Full Version : NPC Spawn Issue: Ancient Croc Camp Bugged...

In Live the saltwater crocs that spawned as PHs for the Ancient Croc in Upper Guk were NOT social. They are KOS but they have never and still aren't social on Live. I remember doing this camp on my druid back in the day easily with my 27 druid and never did I pull more than one croc at a time.
This should be fixed as it makes the camp severely more difficult unless you are a high level farming it for cash. This was excellent XP on live and is where I always leveled my casters from 27-33. When I went there on this server I immediately got crushed due to the bug of having the crocs be social.
Fix please, and thank you.

I could have sworn I've seen as many as 5 at that camp on live, but not every time. Always seemed really strange, I've only camped it a couple times though, so I don't really know the specifics behind it.

From memory:
The spawn timer starts when all the mobs are dead.
Two to 6 mobs could spawn at the AC location, any one of which (but only one per spawn) could be the AC.
I seem to remember something about the PH mobs; I think they were NOT social, but the AC was. Something to that effect..
No proof, no real interest, but this is what I remember.

This is correct, except it's 1 - 5 crocs from my memory. (I remember it sucked when only 1 spawned because it meant almost no exp that round)
They spawned in a / like diagonal formation, AC would always spawn alone in the middle spot and was aggressive
They would all spawn at once, timer started when last was one was killed. Only reason I never said anything about this was because it really doesn't matter much and it will likely be hard to fix/script the spawn times together

not that hard of a script to make.. the hardest part is getting specifics for it.
if someone wants to get locs and what *exactly* is supposed to happen, it won't take long to fix it with perl.

I remember pretty clearly that there were always 3 crocodiles in the room, and a walker from the "shoreline" to the entrance to the hallway leading in.

That never happened on Torvonnilous between kunark and pop.
As far as getting specifics.. meh. Too hard to research this old shit lol, people should have kept better records!! :P

May need to be adjusted slightly, I can't see the crocs but it should be pretty accurate

Just posting to confirm Allizia is right. Either the AC spawned alone, or 1-5 crocs would spawn. The AC is aggressive, the crocs are non aggressive and non social.
I remember camping this while watching Deep Blue Sea. "WE'RE NOT GONNA FIGHT ANY MORE!" and......eaten.

you make it sound like it's EITHER the ac OR sw crocs, but thats not what we've said.. are you agreeing or saying something different?

I'm 90% sure that the AC spawns alone if it spawns. I remember the disappointment that hit when, watching TV, out of the corner of my eye I saw multiple crocodiles. And then the times I saw 1 and got all excited only to look closely and see it was just a saltwater croc and not the AC. These little memories make me confident that he spawned alone when he did.
Still, even the other idea proposed is significantly better and more accurate than the current implementation.
edit: Allizia's last post of spawn events looks to be the same as what I said

Honestly I think AC can spawn with SW, but hey, false memories are a bitch eh? :P

Sorry, I've been uber busy and haven't come back to check this thread.
It is as Alizzia posted. You could NEVER get saltwater crocs WITH the ancient croc on live in original through at least PoP. Dunno if they changed anything after that cause I quit.
You get 1-5 saltwater crocs OR an ancient croc. The ancient croc is aggressive while the others always "Scowled at you ready to attack" but never did. They were neither social nor aggressive.
While I'm on it. The swampwater crocs throughout upper guk always "Scowled at you ready to attack" but were also NEVER aggressive on live despite the conning system. I could sit my low level toons right next to one to meditate near the spiders and they'd never bother me. They should also be non aggressive.
Ancient Croc was the only aggressive croc in guk and his aggro range was TINY.

Just to bump this post, Ancient Crocodile is now 100% scripted and 100% working as per the last two posts of information in this thread. This will be live in the next patch.

Respawn time was 16 mins 20 secs.1 to 5 crocs. AC spawn rate for me(I camped it for exp and loot both and kept a record)was about 1 n 8 spawns or 12% with a 50 50 or legs of arms dropping.273 spawns listed in record 31 AC pops. And correct as above always popped alone and the other crocs were never social. I wanted a 5 pop when doing for exp and a 1 pop when camping for loot(as takes less time to reset the spawn).
I still have my timer =).

As of 4/1/10, The Ancient Croc spawn (and Saltwater spawns) are not popping at all. In place of the spawns are the red-con invisible "Pain and Suffering." Spent 30min here just in case of incorrect spawn timer, and nothing. Saw it was supposed to be fixed on last patch update, any idea if it did ever spawn since that time and now?
