Ring of the Dead

Hello,

I've noticed that the Ring of the Dead was never put into game even though it was on EQlive as an alternate reward to the Thex Mallet quest in the Neriak necro/sk guild. This ring was live from release in 1999 until early 2000ish before Kunark was released.

I can confirm this with some comments at http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=231 ; specifically where a user says "This item was removed from the game several months ago." (dated 2000-07-04).

I can also confirm this with the fact that I did the quest a couple times on EQ live in early 2000 and received the ring on my second attempt as an alternate reward to the Reaper of the Dead.

Please put this in before the time-line does not fit anymore!

I would very much like to see this be in game as well. Especially seeing as it is within the timeline of when it originally existed.

I was in the Neriak SK guild today and confirmed that Xantix Ixtax still talks about the ring when hailed.

Xantix Ixtax says 'Greetings. disciple Zeelot. Feel free to inspect my wares. I am here to serve all necromancers of the Dead. I can also enchant a [ring of the dead] if you have one.

She doesn't respond when I type "ring of the dead"; she used to mention that she could recharge the ring if you have her the ring and 10 gold.

Will be discussing this with the other members of the dev team before implementing it, but I am willing to bet due to it being timeline specific, it will be fine.

One other thing to note about the timeline is that the Ring was eventually removed as part of the quest, but Xantix Ixtax always handed back a recharged ring when handed the ring and 10gp(and still does to this day in eq live). This was also MQable on EQ live - I knew a number of SKs who xferred rings to friends before quitting; this was simply done by handing in the ring to Xantix first and a second person hands in the 10gp.

Also, the reaper of the dead reward from the quest should have a instant cast time CH... The 30 second nerf wasn't till 2002.

That Glimmer Ring only had 1 charge, something the image doesn't show. :p
I'm pretty sure it got completely removed from game though; whereas ring of the dead quest was only nerfed right before kunark. The rings people had were left in game and the recharge quest was left intact.
