Undead Bard Mechanic

Undead Bard mechanic:
1) After real Trakanon dies, a placeholder, non-KOS Undead Bard (UDB) spawns (UDB ~18hr [1][2]).
2) You turn in your lute body to UDB, he returns the body, becomes KOS.
3) Kill UDB, Trak spawns.
4) Kill Trak, congrats guts and single Trak BP.
5) UDB spawns again >=12hr later [3][4].
6) Once Trak spawns, UDB despawns [5].
7) Return to step 1.

Aye I felt it was worth a post, good to hear they're ahead of the curve on this stuff. Lots of stuff in March/April patches between epic changes and planar revamps that we couldn't have tested on beta, didn't know how much internal testing was done on it all.

If you want to do a breakdown post like this about the fay trigger it would help. Bard and VS are completed and tested(ish).

Fay will probably be the last one I do before I go back to work.

From memory:

Hand Dwarf in TD Paradise Island the Froglok Essence. De spawns dwarf and spawns Faydedar.

Faydedar spawns in water and paths out towards the tunnel then aggros you.

Dwarf respawns 2 hours later.


Ill get on live to confirm the timing and stuff when I get home.

Trak 2 is alot easier than Regular Trak IMO. He is not buffed at all when he pops after trigger and on Drinal he went down in under 2 minutes. Trak1 (I Died) Trak2(No death) He drops only the guts and a chance of either a robe or BP First time we killed Trak2 dropped Mage robe, second time we killed Trak2 dropped Cobalt BP =) Hope that helps.

Trakanon does not kill the undead bard...

I have seen both up at the same time and not fighting.

The theory is innaccurate.

Sort of unrelated but what is "mage robe"? Are they referring to manna robe (all int lass usable) or does he get new drops added?

No new drops, assuming the Manna Robe (http://wiki.project1999.com/Manna_Robe).

It's important to mention that spawned Trakanon only drops guts and 1 BP. He doesn't drop teeth, and I'm very confident he doesn't drop spells either.

I believe its not limited to BP, but a single undead dragongut strings and any of the items on his loot table excluding teeth and spells (like the robe, shawl, and cloak as well as the class BPs).

I remember (I know not useful for classicquest) getting shoulders from my bards epic spawn and being extremely disappointed.

Then the second bard epic I did I got a Mana Robe $$$.

I really dont think hes suppose to have full compliment of spells

need some research done on live to see if he poison AEs - seems wrong to make the epic 'easier' for casuals yet they still have to be capable of killing full fledge Trak which kinda defeats the purpose of the intent of these revamps

He has his full compliment of spells from what we could tell. Poison AE, Blind, shroom.

I don't think the point was to make it easier to kill, just to make it so more Guts were entering the game.

The reason for almost every epic change in the last patch, as stated in the dev notes of the time, was to reduce to competition on the epic dropping mobs for other loot.

IE - They wanted less people fighting Trakanon for BPs/Teeth while some bards just cared about Guts. So they split it up so the dudes fighting Trak for Teeth/BPs wouldn't interfere with Gut seeking bards.

Atleast that was their original intent.

My recollection says that Trak (spawned) should be lacking one of his abilities. I don't recall which one it is though. Maybe it was the lifetap? I dunno, I'll poke around on live and see if I can spawn the bard version one.

VSR seemed on par with normal VS too, he was still lifetapping a bunch.
