Purify Mana eats rubies if no poison vial in inventory

Cast purify mana with 4 rubies and no poison vial. Ate rubies.

Cast purify mana with 1 poison vial and no rubies, did not consume vial.

I'm assuming in both scenarios you don't get a vial of mana?

Bump - did not expect error on spell cast to consume rubies - but still does. Is this correct behavior? Can provide additional details if needed.
