You will receive the effects of a food/drink item without consuming it if you leave it in your "first food or drink slot" and consume other food/drink manually.

The 'candy corn' given out during the Halloween event is essentially another slot item. People are able to keep those effects indefinitely by managing their food manually.

not exactly a bug. this was done with stat food on live all the time. though maybe not thought out well.

What IS a bug is food duration not being in yet

Did the GMs intend to give players... 8 str, 2 sta, 5 cha, 8 wis, 8 int, 2 agi, 90 hp, 90 mana... forever? I doubt it.

Or maybe it'll all poof in a few days or weeks, and it was really just temporary? GM's are sneaky suckers, you know...

This is how stat food/drink has always worked in EQ. Putting rare stat food in your first slot and force feeding yourself is a classic strategy.

Ever heard of Bristlebane's Party Platters?

If you haven't I feel bad that you never got to experience PoP at its peak.

Yep, not a bug, bro. I made Snake Steak for poison resistance or Velious giant steaks for str/sta and stuffed down a bunch of rations or whatever so it would last. However, even if you OCD right-click food/drink often, it's hard to be perfect about it, and my supplies of stat food dwindled until eventually gone.
Interesting choice to give such a powerful food, though.

very few candy corn will remain by the time we reach next years Halloween event. Someone is ironically salty about not receiving this sweet treat !

Negative, candy corns are well in stock. I just feel it's... overpowered and abusive. I'll just go with the flow then! Burn it down.

The way OP worded his post opens it to easy attack. It is undoubtedly the case that the mechanic is working as intended.

The point he is trying to make, which is a lot more difficult to refute, is that GMs may have inadvertently given out the equivalent of an additional item slot and high end NTOV loot that fits in it, without considering the game mechanics that would allow for players to keep this item permanently.

This issue is similar to the illusion:gukta potions given out at past GM events. The difference is, in those cases, the GMs circumvented the permanence of the items by making it so vendors would not buy the potions (to continually recharge them) despite the fact that they can be traded/dropped.

A little sad I did all 16 before the tier drop and tried to turn in only to find out one of the Quest triggers I said when there were 20 people spam hailing the NPC locked me out of the reward.

No 90 mana stat food for me to smile at some number in my inventory in reality that won't do much for me.

GMs in the past have revoked these non-classic items later on. Example: Iksar Egg (http://wiki.project1999.com/Iksar_Egg) disappeared from people's inventory months (years?) after the event.

In a related story, anyone can add to and edit this wiki article: http://wiki.project1999.com/Players:GM_Events

Force feeding is classic, been doing that on live... and if the GM think this food is OP, they'll just revoke it in some time...

I think some of the NPCs would randomly cast a spell on you upon "boo" instead of being scared, requiring that you "boo" them multiple times for a successful scare. Are you sure this isn't what happened?
