Okay VP 1.0 is in progress. I have a few questions that I believe some of you may know.
racnars, lava drakes and guardian wurms
-should their respawn be 90 seconds, or 2 minutes? I had conflicting research.
-should they both see invis? if not all the time, about what % of the time?
hoshkar and silverwing
-should they follow the same path? and should that path extend all the way to the pillow room. I see screenshots with them near the zone, but I'd like to know the full route. This map, albeit it scribbled, looks like they had a huge path. http://www.eqmacwiki.com/eqatlas/images/veeshanspeak.jpg

I did Veeshan's Peak several times on Al'kabor. The only Live server that has the old Veeshan's Peak still. There are several other people from Al'kabor here that could probably give some insight too. Hopefully they speak up.
Zone spawn timer was around 3 minutes if I recall correctly. Definitely not 90 seconds.
I know the Phara Dar's portal does take you to Plane of Air. I cannot confirm the others.
While I don't recall the actual path The www.eqmacwiki.com information should be pretty accurate.
I wish I still had my Mac. My Bard was max ally to Ring of Scale.
If you have any friends that have a Mac and an EQMac account you can verify how many things were in Classic. Al'kabor is very similar.

Veeshan`s Peakにいる雑魚Mobとしては、
・Racnar
・Guardian Wurm
・Lava Drake
の三種がいます。どれも固定/定位置をRoamingというもので、どれも90sec Repopです。Factionはなにも持っておらず、デフォルトでKoSです。VPに来るレベルと人数な らはっきりいって(例え強いといっても)雑魚ですが、90sec repopで数いるのでKillしていたら到底Raidになりません。でもExp稼ぎには使えるかもしれま せん(笑)

Yep. I got that from it as well. I was curious if the rest of the non-english text contained relevant information.
Other sites refer to a 2 minute spawn time.

Hard to distinguish what's relevant in this context, as I personally never got close to the zone on live, but I'll have a look at the named-mob section to see what I can see.

I can confirm that the portals took you to the zones mentioned. I definitely zoned into freeport once behind druusk. I have no proof though :(
The only zone out was to Sky. Thought it was in Phara Dar's room, but I can't remember for sure. I'm not 100% sure, but I could swear it ported you to Eye of Veeshan. The location was near a Pad, with a Pile of gold and treasure chests around it, if I recall correctly.
Rapters didn't see invs as you can see by the Invs on the names of us old folk running like mad men past them. SS of said event
Some Wurms didn't see invs all the time. I remember if you killed a see invs one, the chance of a non see invs one spawned.

Racnar and Lava Drake's were 2 min respawns.
Not sure about the color of the guards,we typically used res pulling in VP. So I can't recall killing them.

Zone In VP then (laughs) Con / White and Red is just, Track, so do not worry no sense to use it.
Veeshan `s Peak is a small fish as the Mob,
· Racnar
· Guardian Wurm
· Lava Drake
There are three types. Any fixed / Roaming in a place that is none 90sec Repop. Faction does not have anything, the default is KoS. Frankly VP level and number of people coming to you (Even though a strong example), but small fish, 90sec repop so I was hardly to Kill few become a Raid. But is not the Exp you earn may be used (laughs)

基本的には、RacnarとGuardian WurmにはInvisiが効きます。Lava Drakeには効きません。希にGuardian WurmがSee Invisible持ってる時がありますので、移動時にはちゃんと確認した方が良いです。確認にはBard のBind Sightが非常に有用です。
Generally, invis works on Racnar and Guardian Wurm, but not on Lava Drake. [Some ?] Guardian Wurms have See Invis, it's a good idea to confirm specifically [which ones ?]. Bards' Bind sight is extremely useful in doing this.
Named Dragonは、Silverwing、Hoshkar、Druushk、Nexxona、Xygoz、P hara-Darといますが、どれもthe Ring of Scaleに所属しており、RoS FactionがRtAで無い限りは大丈夫です。Namedは全てSee Invisibleを持っています。Hoshkar、SilverwingはRoamerなので、その位置 を把握するためにもBardのBind Sightは有用です。Bard最高!(たまには)

Named Dragon戦闘
必要SVは、230程度が目安です。大抵のDragonがDragon Charmという単体Charmを使うので、SVMも平行して上げておいた方が良いかもしれません。Ma x DmgはDragonによって違うかもしれませんが、大抵765程度だったと思います(俺様はBardなの で、基本的に殴られないのでわかりません(笑))。まあ、Dmgは大きくてもSoV Mobのように凶悪じゃないようです。
The top level goal for resists should be 230. Most dragons use [a spell ?] call Dragon Charm, so you should probably look to raise your SvMagic as well. The max damage varies by the dragon, but is generally around 765, I think (as a bard, I don't want to find out lol [yes, "(笑)" pretty much translates as "lol"]). Anyway, the damage is high, but not as brutal as Velious mobs.
Silverwing 必要SV:SV-Magic
VP最弱のDragonです。1000dmg/Gravity FluxであるChaos Breathを使ってきますが、SVMで簡単にResistできます。Hoshkar、Silverwin g共にRoaming Dragonで、近くにいるとAddするのでそれが恐いくらいです。HoshkarがAddしてもSilv erwingだけならKillできるくらい弱いです(笑)
Silverwing - Most important Resist: Magic
Veeshan's Peak's weakest dragon. Silverwing uses a 1,000 dmg Gravity Flux and Chaos Breath, but with enough SvM you can simply resist them. Hoshkar and Silverwing being roamers, if you get too close they will assist, which is scary. But Silverwing is so weak that if you're fighting Hoshkar and Silverwing adds, you'll probably be able to kill it (?).
Hoshkar 必要SV:SV-Disease
VP最強クラスのDragonです。というか、Silverwing以外どれもこれも強いんですが、特に 強いです。それというのも、1300dmg/Slow AEであるDiseased Cloudがキツいからです。戦闘エリアを広く取れれば例えばGorenaireのように戦えるのですが、 VPでは限られた戦闘エリアで戦うしかないのでかなり厳しい感じです。『殺られる前に殺れ』という感じでし ょうか。ちなみにGateを使って逃げるのも厄介な一因です。
Hoshkar - Most important Resist: Disease
Hoskar is in Veeshan's Peak's strongest class of dragon. That said, other than Silverwing they're all tough, but especially Hoshkar. It's the AoE 1300 dmg/slowing disease cloud that really does it. Compared to a fight in a wide-open area like Gorenaire, Veeshan's Peak's tightly-restricted fights can feel pretty harsh. It's a "kill them before they kill us" feeling. For what it's worth, [Hoshkar? something/someone else?] casting Gate to flee really contributes to the vexatiousness of it.
Druushk 必要SV:SV-Magic
1500dmgのLightning Breathを使いますが、基本的にResistによるAll or Nothingで、凶悪な副次効果があるわけでもなし……SVさえしっかりしていれば、全滅する前には殺せ るという感じでしょうか。
Druushk - Most important resist: Magic
Druushk uses a 1500 dmg Lightning Breath, but resisting it is all or nothing. I don't want to make it sounds like it does no good, but even with solid resists... can you kill him before you wipe?
Nexxona 必要SV:SV-Fire
凶悪な減り方をするAE DoT/Snare、Stream of Acid を使います。取り敢えずこいつも殺される前に殺せ、というパターンです。VPのDragonはそんなんばっ かりです(笑) 32k制限最高! ちなみにKillはできたものの、その後DoTで死んだ人も多かったで す。
Nexxona - Most important resist: Fire
Nexxona uses a [rapidly dimishing? highly damaging?] AoE Dot/snare call stream of acid. This dragon keeps this "kill it before it kills you" pattern going. That's all there is to the Veeshan's Peak dragons lol. They've only got 32k hp! FYI, lots of people will die to the DoT, even after you've managed to kill the dragon.
Xygoz 必要SV:SV-Magic
Spellを使用不可能にするMesmerizing Breathを使いますが……まあ、それだけですか? 弱さ的にはSilverwing程度かな。Bard 的にはJugさえしなければ、このBreathは意味がありません。歌いっぱなしならば、Song効果はあ りつづけるので全く恐くないんですね、このBreath。まあ、さくさくと勝てる部類です。
Xygoz - Most important resist: Magic
Xygoz casts Mesmerizing Breath, which stops you from casting spells... is that it? Seems almost as weak as Silverwing. If Bards could only Jug [meaning twist?], this breath would be totally meaningless. [Best guess at this section:] As long as you don't cancel the song, you'll still get the full effects of that one, even under this breath. Seems like it should be an easy victory.
Phara-Dar 必要SV:SV-Magic
多分VP最強Dragonです。Hoshよりも凶悪だと個人的には思います。900dmg/12sec Stun効果のあるStun Breathを12sec程度毎に使ってきます(笑) ガイルの小足払い→投げハメなみのハメですか?(笑 ) 内部データ的にLvl70とも噂される為か、充分SVがあってもResistを連続失敗することもあれ ば連続でResistできることもあります。こいつの為にわざわざ数十分Disc復帰をまってTryした程 強い相手です。そしてそのせいでOn Line Sleepする人が出て戦力的に上なのか下なのかよくわからない情況で勝ちました(笑) やはり殺られる前 に殺れ、ということで。
Phara-Dar - Most important resist: Magic
Probably the strongest dragon in Veeshan's Peak. I think Phara-Dar's even worse than Hosh. He casts a 900 dmg/12-second stun every 12 seconds lol. [At a guess, I think this sentence compares it to a Guile sweep/throw loop...?] [The rest of this is tough to understand... I'll try and get more up later on.]

In case your personally interested...
凶悪な減り方: Atrocious for dropping your force (i.e. rapes your face)
Jug = Juggle = Twisting (you were right, just Japanese vocab for it)
The part about see invis...that is what 希に (まれに) is...

"Is this the same Nagehame that Guile uses [in Street Fighter]? (lol) Maybe because there is the rumour he is level 70, but there are times where even if you have sufficient resists you will be hit with the spell multiple times, but it is still possible to continuously resist as well.
For a strong opponent like him we waited at least ten minutes for him to return to Disc (some landmark or place in VP perhaps) and then would try the encounter. Because of this there were a lot of people who would "waffle face", so we didnt know if we had our full force or not when we won (lol). Of course before he went down he took a few of us with him.

The zone to sky was to isle 1. At least it was by Velious. Once we cleared VP, and in some kind of frenzy we all zoned to sky and killed all the quest efreeti's.
Also, the chance for a see invis wurm is low enough that you can sometimes get only 1-3 on the way to a dragon. We used SK's with circlets of shadow to pull the dragons, and we always had to kill 1-3 see invis wurms before we could pull the dragon solo with the circlet.

Faction does not have anything, the default is KoS.
Faction is not always KoS. Entire zone is on Ring of Scale. Bards that choose Veeshan as their diety are not KoS. Anyone that has hunted bards across Norrath or MistMoore mobs enough to raise their faction to dubious will not be KoS. The dwarf king in Kaladim also gives a huge faction hit. IIRC, it was 7 kills of the king for max ally RoS faction. This is how most people raised their RoS faction.
There will be an entry in the maintenance logs about significantly decreasing the RoS faction hit from the dwarf king but I am too lazy to look it up. This didn't happen until much later I think just before VP was converted to an "elemental" tier zone around PoP.

I don't believe the colour of the drakes is static. Any type of drake could pop in any location iirc.

Classic VP until the PoP re-vamped happened was even being max ally with Ring of Scale, the dragons themselves are the only ones who would con ally, all the trash mobs would otherwise be scowl still.
Also when killing the trash mobs who were scowl, even being ally to RoS, would drop your RoS faction.
Being max ally was almost useless, maybe avoid the dragon outside ToV from agroing you that roams back and forth, or Gore/Tal, whoever else.
Add: With the re-vamp though all the trash mobs/dragons wouldnt agro except the lava drakes in the lava, thats when the faction was useful.

So.. when a guardian wurm spawns, does it choose to melee for 300/700/1500 as suggested above, and also here (http://web.archive.org/web/20030223071738/eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=4474)?
Does each guardian wurm spawn have the chance to use any of those spells listed? If so, can they spawn being able to cast more than one of them?
Can there be a guardian wurm spawn that hits for 1500 and cast dragon roar, sees through invis, and possibly casts wurm breath?
Can there be a guardian wurm that hits for 275 and doesn't cast at all, but sees invis, and is totally magic resistant?
etc.. I can set these up however we need, I just need to know what all these npcs are capable of spawning as.

Can there really be up to 2 splits off a single guardian wurm?
How often should lava drakes cast reality warp? As a spell, its allakhazam data lists a recast delay of 0, suggesting it is a proc.

I remember guilds putting corpses outside somewhere to rez out of the zone. As gate didn't work, but i'm not sure about the portals.

I am not certain. I based the portals based off my research. Here are some of the quotes.
Note: VP revamp was in July 2004.

The Phara Dar portal leads to the Fairy island in Plane of Sky, the other portals lead to Freeport. In general, the Druushk portal is the easiest one to use. Click on a zone portal to exit.

It was my understanding that each of the 4 portals led to 4 different locations all together. The portal behind Xygoz (inside to the left) put our group in the tunnel in the Swamp of No Hope.
Only one I've personally used so can't comment directly on the others.

Wow, Swamp of No Hope? We have only used the Druushk and Phara portals, so I only personally know of Freeport (right by the boat dock) and Sky.
I'll have to check out the Nexxona portal this weekend and see where it goes...

It's possible to. I got dropped during a raid a long time ago due to an ISP problem. I came back to an empty VP. Managed to get to the gate to Freeport and get out. I forget which lair it was behind but getting there was intereting.

Disclaimer: I played a cleric and was taking a step back from leading raids during late kunark until i got the itch again in velious, so I'm not the MOST qualified person to answer these, but I did do my fair share of VP.
I don't think wurm abilities were randomly assigned, because quite frankly SOE's encounter design was not that dynamic at this point. I seem to remember there only being 4 or 5 different types of wurms, and as soon as it was figured out which one we were on, we adjusted accordingly. Things hit hard or casted hard or made more of themselves, but I don't remember wurms that did all 3.

as that would be tougher than like half the actual dragons.

This sounds like a reasonable combination. The see invis one were rare enough though that after a few days of crawling through we'd have big sections with no see invis things up.
Again, I know we have ex-FOH and LOS here who pioneered this stuff who will remember better than me, but those are my foggy memories.

Unfortunately I can't find a legit source for this Nilbog, but I clearly remember Wurm splitting asfollows:
1 Wurm -> 1 or 2 -> each of those can spawn 1 or 2, but the following cannot spawn *any. All of the wurms vary per your post with 250-1500 max melee, casting, varying dragon roar/spells.
So, 1 wurm can at most spawn 12 other wurms until camp is clear.

I don't understand the splitting. At most, it sounds like 1 becomes 2, and those two become 4, for a max of 7.

15, right. I meant the origin can at most spawn 14 wurms total, for a total of 15 yep. I think it sounds like a bit much, however with the possiblity a Wurm can dish 250 dmg a swing, with only Dragon Roar as an alternate ability certainly makes this doable.

i'm too lazy to read this entire thread but as a bard who spent HOURS AND HOURS SIGHT BOUND to hoshkar and silverwing albeit years ago - i'm fairly sure that the red arrow on that map was hoshkar and the orange one was silverwing BUT i seem to remember that silverwing would port/warp into hoshkars lair for some reason occasionally and jack everything up - she roamed into his lair so you couldn't actually KILL Him there - we always pulled him to where it says camp 2 vs H&S. HTH

There was no wurm splitting at all on Al'kabor. (Only Live server with old VP still active)
I remember hearing stories from other players about a wurm that hit like a truck but I never saw a wurm that hit for 1500.

Yes. Typical wurm would hit for 300s. It was very rare to have a 1500 hitter.

The only wurms that I recall casting anything, it was a fire based AoE and a rare dragon roar. I don't recall a cold based aoe being used. The ones that we killed, did hit for 1500 at times, but was very slow attack. They all randomly hit for the range of damage that you listed. We only killed the ones that saw invs that were near our pull path/near camp, and that was very rare.
I want to say we had a a Wurm split on us one time. It just spawned another one right away. We never had a double split.It was something that had a chance of happening, but it was never an issue for us since it was so rare.
Raptor/Rancors: Very Very low agro. You could run past them uninvs in typical npc range and they wouldn't agro. Of course they would agro if you got too close. It was a fine line.
I only recall Phara Dar's room having the only portal out. Maybe the others weren't working at that time,or even not enabled when we cleared VP. They made a few changes after we started to kill the dragons in there.

We saw quite a few 1500 hitters, but I can't tell you what percent.
I can tell you that all loot was tradeable for a few days ( maybe as long as 2 months, but I can't recall) after first kills there game-wide. No trade was not instituted until major complaints from the community.
