Try and use the feedback Uthgaard is requesting using this format:
How are mob resists?
What level were the mobs?
What level were you?
What spell did you cast?
Example for me.
How are mob resists? Seem very high
What level were the mobs? Dont know current level of paw ent mobs since it internet resources quote live but they were blue con.
What level were you? 30
What spell did you cast? Grasping Roots and Ensaring Roots
Spell was lasting ~50-0% of the time. Also had several instances where 3-5 repeated casts were completely resisted. Tried casting the lvl 9 version and didnt seem to change much.
Hope this helps and please try and keep this as constructive as possible to help get this fixed.

How are mob resists?
This is a post concerning Rathe Mtn HGs and is a repost so that I could put it into the specified reporting format.
Resists are higher than before, pretty much all around. The resist rates of some spells (e.g. lifetaps and poison dots) fell within what I would consider to be normal for the original EQ with these mobs. The resists rates of other spells seemed to be what might be expected most of the time, but at times would have unusually long streaks of resists. Finally, one spell resisted a lot more than I felt it should. Details below.
What level were the mobs?
These HGs are around 35 to 38 - all were blue to me.
What level were you?
39 (Necro)
What spell did you cast?
These were the problematic spells and their behaviors:
* Dooming Darkness - Worked as I would expect it to most of the time, i.e. 0 to 2 resists per mob. A few times though there were very long strings of resists on a single mob. One of these reached 5 resists in a row.
* Boiling Blood - Worked as I would expect it to most of the time, i.e. almost no resists. However once it resisted twice in a row on the same mob.
* Root - Resisted every single time I cast it during this play session, which was about 5 times.

How are mob resists? Seem much higher
What level were the mobs? 25 (yellow, red con)
What level were you? 22-23
What spell did you cast? Engulfing Darkness, Heat Blood, Heart Flutter
Mobs were the centaur coursers and chargers(lvl 29ish?) in Southern Karana. Was with a group and would land 1 out of 6 dots, sometimes less in no specific cast order.

How are mob resists? Much more frequent than before the patch. I am noticing an increase in both full and partial resists on damage spells and decreased root time.
What level were the mobs? Blue cons to me. Aviak Rook in South Karana, Pledge Familiar and Initiate Familiar in Mistmoore.
What level were you? I am a level 24 wizard.
What spell did you cast? Root, Force Shock, and Lightning Bolt.
I was killing the familiars in Mistmoore with a small group. Out of maybe 8-10 mobs, with 1 or 2 casts per mob, I think only 2 of my damage spells did full damage. Most of the time the spells would do 25-60 damage. I was unable to land a root in several casts.
After I couldn't find a group later, I went to South Karana to see if I could solo there using root and nuke. The first blue mob I came across was an Aviak Rook. I decided to give it a shot and opened with Root. Resisted the first cast, landed the second but it broke immediately. Landed a third root which also broke immediately. The fourth one stuck long enough for me to cast Force Shock, which did full damage. I ran out of mana casting Lightning Bolts (one of which was a partial resist) to finish off the rook, after needing to root again at 70% mob health. I decided this was not a viable solo option at this time, afterall, because of the current resist rate.

I posted this in the kunark spells area. I will repost here:
I am by no means one of those who will whip out the spreadsheet. I was seeing what felt about 25% resist rates and i do not remember it that high. I know its that "I remember" game but i got numbers that are still way too high in my opinion.
My unscientific test:
Got a high level player to root a dark blue pirate in Firiona Vie. I proceeded to cast a series of songs over and over on the mob and count the casts until resist. Then counted how many resists in a row. Then proceeded to count over again upon successfull lands. Here are my numbers.

I am only looking to start the conversation... however if we are looking at this high of a level... time to reroll because these numbers seem way to high. No instruments were used that affected these songs. I have 117 Charisma at the time of the test.
Can i get someone to run numbers and confirm? I know its a small sample.
Again... the key is the first number is successful casts and the second is how many resists. As soon as i got a success i would start over.
Success # Failed #
I was a lvl 30 bard casting on a generic dark blue pirate in Firiona Vie. I hope my layout makes sense. Bard songs i believe had lower resists than mages or similar casters due to the very short duration along with the fact that Charisma helps offensive spells land. I am unaware of any stat that made say wizard spells land better outside of lures. I have absolutely no clue how bard songs are coded in comparison of other castable classes.
Last night while grouped i seemed to have a bit more resists but mostly used benificial spells. The SK in our group as a tank however struggled big time.
P.S. the sheer volume of bard gear being sold in EC is awesome... keep dropping in price.... cmon big money no whammies!

Zone: Ocean of Tears
NPCs: Spectres
How are mob resists? Seem much higher than before patch.
What level were the mobs? Dark blue con, believed to be 33-37
What level were you? 40
What spell did you cast? Bonds of Force and Circle of Force
I did approx the first 3/4 of lvl 40 quadkiting spectres in Ocean of Tears prior to the patch. During that time I would occasionally have 1 spectre resist bonds of force on the initial cast, and would occasionally have partial resists on Circle of Force on 1 of the 4 spectres it landed on. They would all die within 1 cast of Circle of Force of eachother. As long as I had 1800 mana prior to pull I had enough to finish off all 4. After the patch, same lvl, same mobs, I finished off lvl 40. Every pull I had at least 1 and up to 3 of the spectres resist bonds of force on the initial cast, and sometimes had to cast it 3 times or more before I could get it to stick on all 4. Circle of Force is consistently resisting, often on the same spectre, to the point where I finish off the other 3 and the one that was resisting (partial and full) will have 30-60% of its health left. Even with medding to full mana (1936) before pulling, at least half the time I ended up having to get help finishing off the final spectre or having to med kite to finish the last one.

Vs Spectres in Oasis: Suffocate would regularly be resisted 4-5 times in a row on yellow-red cons (33 enchanter vs 36 spectre) even with Tashan.
Went to Paw and pulled a caster gnoll from under the bridge, it immediately resisted enthrall 3 times in a row. I didn't cast mez much but sometimes it landed reasonably so this may just be a fluke. I don't trust my brain to remember statistic correctly unless there is a really huge difference. Color skew seemed to be about normal too, and my nukes were getting resisted at about standard rates.
Root has been absolutely slaughtered. I tried to solo a spectre in Oasis and got 2 0-tick roots in a row: my pet did not get a single attack in between 'sinks into the ground' and 'your root spell has worn off'. Finally got one to land, decided to mem gate, and was killed by a mummy XD. This problem continued in Paw where my average root lasted about 6 seconds. Absolutely no question that its bugged.

Infected Paw
How are mob resists? Very High
What level were the mobs? 33-36
What level were you? 34
What spell did you cast?
Venom of the Snake on blue mobs 1-3 resists on each mob on about 1/3 of the mobs. On even/yellow mobs very streaky 1-4 resists on a mob then works for the next couple then 1-4 resists.
Poison Bolt-Stopped using because I was partially resisted just about every time for 1/2 or less damage.
Spirit Tap -No resists.
Dooming Darkness-1-2 resist on a mob every 1/3 of the time.
Vampiric Curse-1 Resist on a mob every so often 1/5 or 1/10.
Screaming Terror-Useless on anything but light blue mobs. Would not stick on dark blues and above the times I tried casting over and over on a mob.
Oasis
How are mob resists? Streaky
What level were the mobs? Specters 33-37?
What level were you? 35
What spell did you cast? Fear kiting in group.
Dooming Darkness was very streaky. It would work on 1 or 2 mobs ok then resists 4 times in a row on one mob.
Vampiric Curse-Resist on a mob every so often 1/5 or 1/10.
Enchanter was fearing it was streaky like Dooming Darkness above.
Spirit Tap-No resists
This is all with the enchanter Tashing.
Off topic but Oasis specters are lifetapping.
Paineel
How are mob resists? Not too bad but more than before patch.
What level were the mobs? 23-27
What level were you? 34
What spell did you cast? All my spells worked well on these EVEN HUNGRY EARTH but the level difference was big.
Nek Forest
How are mob resists? Not too bad but more than before patch.
What level were the mobs? Shadowed men are 23-26? Not sure
What level were you? 34
What spell did you cast? Fear kiting worked well, ROOT worked well but again the level difference is big.
Seems to me anything near my level is resisting in a very streaky manner. I used to be able to know how much mana I would need to be victorious in a fight but now I need to be FM just in case. Some fights will take my whole mana bar if it's a bad streak. Also screaming terror is useless to me now, maybe there was a change in how cha affects this spell? Because my cha is quite low. Hope this helps cause limiting myself to mobs 10 levels lower even in groups is not going to be much fun.

iam getting heavily resist. sometime a mob that wouldnt resist a calm spell can resist up to 6-7 time in arow ...grrr
guk : king room : mob range from 43-46 i beleive
iam a 50 ench
spell that would almost never get resisted b4. now it become hellish.
calm-whirl till you hurl - root - suphocating sphere - allure and dazzle. almost everything get resisted now. all mob are blue to me.
note that i noticed that allure duration is lower then it used to, seem like the game actually think the mob are higher then the actual lv of the mob...

How are mob resists? Seemed high.
What level were the mobs? 30-31? (NK Guards on bridge to sk)
What level were you? 30
What spell did you cast? Dooming darkness for start ended up feigning 2x before landing the snare then proceeded to Vampiric Curse resist 3x got it off.
I've noticed the same thing with Paw Ent gnolls - they are DB having trouble with Dooming Darkness landing sometimes on them. I've failed twice in a row before, just doesn't seem normal. It's the same Vampiric Curse - "Uthgaard" did acknowledge this
"I missed vampiric curse with making the rest of the lifetaps only resist outside of the level limit, that one's an easy fix."
just putting it down again :)
Thanks for the work.

Looking great so far, thanks for keeping it polite and on topic.
It looks like the majority of the issues are with mid to low level spells on mid level npcs, I'm not seeing as many reports higher than that, as the resist adjustments on spells decline with higher level spells.
I realize these arent often used in xp groups or while soloing, but how do resists seem once resist debuffs have been applied? Are they making an significant impact?
How are resists above 40, and at the raid level?
Zeelot
03-15-2011, 10:19 AM
The only issue I've had so far raiding is getting a Harm Touch resist on a dark blue Cleric of Innoruuk. Standard Harm touch was indeed resistable, but generally only with higher level mobs with high MR.

Paineel Ghosts
How were the resists? BAD
What level were the mobs? 35
What level were you? 35
What spell did you cast?
Dooming Darkness- ~60% resists.
Venom of the Snake- 100% resists.
Panic Undead- ~50% resists.
Vampiric Curse- No resists.
Hungry Earth- ~50% resists.
This was only after 3 ghosts kills. The fourth one almost killed me because I couldn't stick anything on her. I know poison spells are highly resisted but I did not try Scent of Shadow to see if it would affect it. However I grouped with an enchanter yesterday and he was using Tashan and I did not notice a difference in lowered resists. A 39 Mage took over after me and he reported no unusual resists rates with his lvl 1 nuke. Maybe I will use some lower level spells to see if they have issues.

Same as the previous poster --
Paineel Ghosts
Resists? On average 1-2 per mob between dooming darkness and panic undead
What level were the mobs? 35
What level were you? 38
What spells were you using?
Panic the Dead -- I only logged the very end of my play session, but me (a level 38 necro) on level 35 mobs without any special magic resistsnace:
Panic the Dead was resisted 6 times out of 11 casts (55% resist rate)
Dooming Darkness was resisted 3 times out of 9 casts (33% resist rate)
Spirit Tap was not resisted at all out of 15 casts
^these were on mobs 3 levels below me with fairly unremarkable MR before the patch (I could stick spells on them at a higher rate than this when they were even/yellow cons). It's crazy -- I have to feign 1-2 times/fight versus DB mobs 3 levels below me at the moment.
Let me know if I can provide any more info, devs. Thank you for your hard work!

Ok just died.
Me-35
Ghosts-35
I tested lower level spells and they are the same.
Clinging Darkness Lvl 4 spell-50% Resists
Spook the Dead Lvl 12 spell-50% Resists this spell was even worst as it only lasted for like 5 seconds and was the reason I died.
Vamp curse-still good.

Feerrott spectres:
How are mob resists? Feels like at least 50%.
What level were the mobs? 34-37
What level were you? 38
What spell did you cast? Instill, Tagar's Insects Scourge, Envenomed Breath, all get resisted a ton of times. To the point that sometimes it takes me a full mana bar to kill one dark blue mob, and it's often even a close call when root gets resisted 4 times in a row (not uncommon)

Level 40 druid
Mobs blue con, but not high blue: NK hill giant and griffon, Feerott spectre and bouncers, Rathe Mtn hill giants results on these spells were pretty universal for all these mobs
Drones of Doom: resisted about 1/4 of the time. previously resisted virtually never even on yellows and could land on reds.
Immolate: resisted about 1/4 of the time. about the same as before. resists are expected on this spell. although after losing a dot, there was some hope that this one might be less resisted. most people simply didnt use this dot soloing before the dot changes because it was a waste of mana.
(Note that both those dots now have the same resist mod in the spell file. I find that strange as immolate is supposed to be resisted some and drones is definitely not)
firestrike: resisted fully about 25% of the time. double previous. What used to be partial resists are now full resists with a few partials still in there.
Careless lightning (a lower level nuke): resisted twice as much as before both full and partials.
Dizzying Wind: not enough casts to tell anything
Ensnare: resisted double before.
baby snare: seemed ok but only a few casts
Ensnaring Roots (the one with 50pts nuke damage, not sure i have spell name correct): resisted outright more, more short durations, alot more 0-1 tic durations where they took the damage and it immediately wore off. Druid root is expected to be stinky compared to non-damage roots but not worth casting on a blue currently.
Spells against green and light blue cons: fire goblins, inferno goblins etc in Sol A.
Avalanche line was resisted at the level you would expect a high blue. One cast was completely resisted in two waves and the third wave partial. Wave spells would have previously expected one wave partial or complete resist to dark blue, but banked on full damage to greens and light blues. Havent tried spell on blues yet.
Root even for druids previously stuck to greens and light blues for a close to max duration. Got several no duration roots, no outright resists.
I noticed in the spell file changes that Drones and Immolate have the same resist mod of 25. They were never on equal footing previously with magic dot line being far superior in it's ability to land almost every time due to the debuffs that go along with the fire based dot.
Druids are having a rough time solo right now over all.
Enchanter level 13: I'd posted radically increased resists for them earlier. These seem to be completely fixed and in line with before now. Thanks

A 39 Mage took over after me and he reported no unusual resists rates with his lvl 1 nuke. Maybe I will use some lower level spells to see if they have issues.
This is interesting and may be a useful clue for the real problem. If any higher level characters are willing to test lower level spells to see if they encounter the same resist rates, it would be helpful.

Well at 50, using my 34? root (root) i can land on anything blue or below. Only issue is planar mobs, which shouldnt really be rooted anyway. Also my fear (lvl 4 ? ) Allmost NEVER gets resisted. Even less than root, which works perfectly for me 98% of the time.

I am a 29 necro and I have been killing guards in west commons before and after the patch and I have notice a difference in the resistance of my snare. The guards are yellow to me. They would rarely resist my snare dooming darkness before the patch probably 10-15% of the time . After the patch I would say they resist dooming darkness 40% of the time compared to 15% before the patch. I loaded up engulfing darkness the lower level snare and it seemed to not get resisted nearly as much.

How are mob resists?
Speaking to the Spectre's in Feerrott, I was there the day before the patch for the first time, and i was getting about 5-10 resists an hour (which at the time i thought was annoying) and then after the server came back live i went back and i am getting somewhere around 5-10 a fight, which to me seems like an extreme amount. To add to that, my root is lasting 5 seconds at most, which seems odd, but then again thats a random duration spell so could just be my luck.
What level were the mobs?
DB to me at 38 so probably 35-36?
What level were you?
38
What spell did you cast?
Tashani to pull, then Languid Pace (resists like a mofo), then whirl til you hurl (resists like a mofo) root (highest resist rate of the 3 before mentioned) then Anarchy (not getting resisted so much, maybe about 1 time every 2 fights)
Posting more in depth of what we were talking about in SolB. This so far are the only MoBs I have encountered since the patch that Cast/Proc spells.
Bisch Lvl 50 monk was the testing subject.
I typically have around 155-170 MR during pulling in fear. I had a good resist rate vs NPC spells from blue/yellow cons till this patch. 70-80%ish resist on Yellows down to Green cons.
While pulling in fear AM/PM raids, I noticed NPC spells landing for longer duration and couldn't resist.
A Turmoil Toad: Fear
Fear landed no matter what my MR was at, regardless if it was a blue/yellow con. I think the shortest duration I had that landed on me was 10 seconds. Typically I have a good 80% chance rate to resist, I had no resists after patch.
Amygdalan warrior Fear
I couldn't resist the Mana Sink proc they have. Not a big deal for a monk but with 150+MR, I wasn't able to resist it.
The Mana Sink now has the Mana Stone spell effects, and changed from before. It was sparkly skittles like!
a gorgon Fear
Was landing its Stone Breath 100%. It is even landing outside of melee range. I thought this was a Proc since it was insant? Not 100% sure. I wasn't able to resist it at all.
a greater kobold shaman SolB
These ranged from Light Blue to Blue cons. I wasn't able to resist their Slow spells/Roots or any DoTs.
The only spell I have resisted so far outside of the mobs I have listed is Gflux from a Fire Giant Wizard in SOLB when I was around 30% life.
Maybe it was a off day or 2 of pulling. The lack of resists seem to make me think otherwise.
How are mob resists?
Seems higher on db cons now.
What level were the mobs? 35, Dwarves in BB docks.
What level were you? 36
What spell did you cast?
Dooming Darkness cast 59 times, 23 resists
Boil Blood cast 41 times, 4 resists
Root and Venom of the Snake cast a few times, 100% resists.

This is a unique issue: I was under the assumption that lifetap dots (Leach, Vamp Curse, etc) have the same resist rules as lifetaps - barring level restrictions, they are nonresistable. See Screenie:

I missed vampiric curse with making the rest of the lifetaps only resist outside of the level limit, that one's an easy fix.
Resist mods are all correct for the timeline. Since resists in general are too frequent, restoring these has brought some issues with the resist mechanics in general to the surface. Getting the system in line instead of treating the symptom with a workaround will have better results in the long run. On the plus side, mobs should also have a harder time hitting you with spells.

How are mob resists? Slightly over-resisting.
What level were the mobs? 35-37 Spectres in OoT, blue to yellow cons.
What level were you? 35-36
What spell did you cast? Drones of Doom would resist about 5-10% of the time. Prior to the patch I never had my swarm line resist on anything except red cons. Immolate roughly 35% resist rate, but it believe it was around 15-20% before the patch.

OK, a bit more information. Right now there is an absolutely huge difference between an even con and dark blue for me. When I (37 enchanter now) try to mez a froglok ghoul wan knight, if its dark blue entrance will succeed >80% of the time. If its an even con, less than 30%. So that feels like a good place to look for things.

How are mob resists? Too high, I had 13 resists in a row on a dark blue gorgon in fear, and 10 in a row resist on a dark blue amy knight. I just don't bother pulling out my charm now unless I want a good laugh.
What level were the mobs? I'm going to assume 46-49. I'm level 50, and the mobs were blue to me in plane of fear.
What level were you? I'm a 50 bard
What spell did you cast? Solon's Bewitching Bravura

Thanks for all you devs do. Realizing that you have a handle on the situation I'm merely adding to the wealth of knowledge:
19 Shaman leveling in South Karana.
Against a level 19 bull elephant, with Malise, I consistently got resisted on my roots (40% of the time), and if it did land, it held for only a few seconds. On the occasional mob I would get a much higher resist rate on both my roots and Affliction/Tainted Breath, even after Malise. Both Affliction and Tainted Breath are getting resisted more than they were before the patch, but not nearly as much as root. Spirit Strike seems to be getting resisted at a higher rate as well, but again not as much as root.

new dragon roar makes old world dragons LOL. with MR over 150 i got feared by draco 5 times for the full duration where i would previously only get feared maybe once.

Getting feared only 1 out of 5 times by dragon roar seems way off with only 150 MR (150 MR is really not all that much, keep in mind). Maybe that's just me. Why do you assume this is unintended?

i don't know my exact MR for the fight. 2nd attempt at draco i had 220ish MR with bard song and got feared 3 times still. I don't have data beyond anecdotal on how things were exactly in classic, but they are suddenly incredibly hard to resist where before you didn't need a bard + best in slot resist gear to have a shot at resisting.

How are mob resists? Decent with some spells, high with others.
What level were the mobs? 25 (sisters in OOT)
What level were you? 25 Necro
What spell did you cast? Heart Flutter
Spell was resisting about 3-4 out of every 5 casts. Much to the point where using it seemed like a large waste of mana.

It seems to me like dragon roar was too trivial before. With both Bard songs, GRM (and maybe MR pots) with alright resist gear, naggy's dragon roar used to succeed maybe 10% of the time. Even with the best possible resists, I don't think a raid encounter should be landing spells so rarely. If the devs want to look into it I guess they can, but I see no reason why it should be changed unless there's pretty good evidence that high MR was that effective against dragons in classic.

Resists are erratic, cannot land root.
guard fredrick in North Karana, he's blue to me.
I am a 31 wizard
I'm casting Bonds of force (AE Snare lvl 29) and Inferno shock (also lvl 29) and Enstill (lvl 20)
Enstill almost never works, less than half the time.
Nuke usually works, but can get resisted thee or four times in a row.
AE Snare lands pretty well.
Real problem is the nuke being interrupted, it seems to happen about a third of the time i try to cast.
I have been chased out of the zone a number of times by this blue NPC because i cannot land root, even for a few seconds.

I know this subject is already being looked at, but here are my 2cp anyway:
I made my research with 2 different kind of mobs and 2 different range of levels. My char is an ogre shaman.
First research, my char being lvl 16-17 with dune tarantulas in Nro and Sro.
How are mob resists? High when I was lvl 16. A lot easier when I was 17.
What level were the mobs? Dark blue con to me.
What level were you? 16 and 17
What spell did you cast? Sicken and Spirit strike = Low resist rate.
Tainted breath= Higher than the previous spells, but I recall this being like that in live.
Root= Very high when I was lvl 16 (2-4 resist for mob), and a lot easier being 17.
Second research, my char being 20 with aviak darters.
How are mob resists? Ok with some mobs and very high with others.
What level were the mobs? Dark blue con to me.
What level were you? 20
What spell did you cast? Affliction=Seems to be right. Some resist but not too high.
Tainted Breath= Quite higher than disease spell. I always get 2-3 resist per mob.
Root= 1-2 resist in some mobs. In other, I just can't make it land or if it does, it doesn't last more than 1 tick (if any).
I tried to do a research with even or yellow con mobs when I was 17-19 in oasis (deepwater caimans, crocodiles and deepwater crocs) but I just could't land a root on them (or it didn't last a tick if it landed).
I hope this help.

How are mob resists? Extremely High
What level were the mobs? White con
What level were you? 40
What spell did you cast? Ensnare, Ensnaring root, Drones of Doom, Immolate
Pulled an even con ice Giant in Permafrost and he resisted my first 5 ensnare casts and 1 ensnaring root before finally landing one, he went on to resist half of my Drones of Doom casts until I finally had to gate out due to low mana (have 203 wis).
2nd example. at level 38 at Ancient Croc camp in Guk, the crocs were mostly light blue con and was using the root/rot tactic that I had been using there since lvl 32 and after the resist change every single croc would break the root prior to me being able to finish them off which they nearly never broke prior to the change.
Non specific - Since the changes to resists I get resisted a lot from virtually all the mobs I hunt (usually blue con), the spells I consistenly use is ensnare, ensnaring root, immolate and Drones of Doom.
