*Today's Patch*

Today we modified the EverQuest client to implement the following
changes:

- The /book command (/book #) now accepts pages 1 through 50, and will
switch to the proper page.
- Opening your spellbook will automatically cause you to begin
meditating providing that you have the skill.
- Removed the /meditate command since it is no longer necessary.

Give us /meditate please. These patch notes prove the command existed from day 1 of Everquest, up until 4 months and 6 days into Kunark.

Further reason to do so - the spellbook in this forced UI is completely broken.
I see a black rectangle at the bottom of my spellbook that I have to click on,
but there is no indicator that I've pressed it or that I'm meditating. See below:

The button color can be corrupted if you change the window background tint from default. This appears to be what you're experiencing.

Fixed the black button issue. Still hope /med gets implement as it’s classic.

This must be an issue with the titanium root client, but for some reason you can train meditate before lvl 4 at trainers. It does not keep the points and as soon as the window closes they disappear, but it takes your skill points and does not give them back. Meditate resets to 0 until you reach lvl 4 and train at that time.

If they were able to make it so you're required to push the button every time you open the book, I imagine there should be no issue implementing this fully if they desire. If anything the problem is getting the button to reflect your current state of meditation.

I have no button.....

I have meditate skill trained to 6 and have not seen any skill updates while sitting with book open or closed.

I ALSO have a THEORY.

this is VELIOUS UI. not the classic ui. by that time. meditating was AUTOMATIC.

so it isn't part of the velious UI lay out by default.

What class are you? Priests don't get meditate until level 8...

Nevermind - based on spells it looks like you're an enchanter.

The button being pressed or not should be remembered

Problem solved - make /book hotkey or get the marble UI working to click that immersive spell book

Same problem here, also no meditate button, lvl 8 Shaman, meditate trained to 10 with points - no skill-ups when sitting with mana missing and water in bag, and looking at spell book.

Edit: I re-downloaded and copied/pasted the v52 patch files into my directory and this fixed it. I had previously done this but evidently something changed that messed up some files. The marbleized UI now looks correct and I have a meditate button!

Weird thing is during beta the button did remember if it was pushed or not until I zoned or logged.

I'll have to try this and see if it fixes my issue. I have just a lowbie now but soon that will really hurt not being able to meditate. Somebody suggested I might just need my book open? But no skill ups, so... hmm.

I did what OP suggested and it worked. The "exit" button in my book was non-original UI and now there is a meditate button in that spot that I can click.

so re-patching did the trick. I think this is what happened from using the Duxa installer ontop of the patch file last time.

Need to be careful assuming patch note message means it was in since release.

Was looking into this command with Telin tonight. /meditate was not in from launch, confirmed via multiple command list references in era as well as another post confirming it was placed in a prior August 2000 patch (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/alt.games.everquest/Rk4tOJNjETE/JGnleArY_QIJ;context-place=forum/alt.games.everquest) and was not functioning properly (/meditate from standing would only open spellbook, had to hit it a 2nd time to actually click the meditate button).

Based on this tiny window of slightly broken functionality, I do not see it being implemented.

Moving to resolved.
