I remember these being just a bit slower than regular unencumbered run speed. They seem to keep pace with sand giants. What do u pals think?

I haven't done them in a while as I maxxed out to 50 a bit ago, just thinking we can crowd source to make them a little more classic.

I remember spectres being standard, but maybe I'm wrong.

The highest level spectre (in Feerrott at least), seems to have completely different statistics, running and attacking at a much higher speed compared to the other spectres.

One good tactic is fear kiting undead - chasing spectres is great if you
can find some. (They don't run fast)

Edit: Ohhh this is a good one...

At higher levels, you can reverse kite spectres, as they also run at snare speed by default.

Ok here's another piece and maybe need Torven logs..

I remember resisting spec life tap when they were green to me at times.

Then the hardest one is I have a vague memory of them casting a gate spell to go back to island if they lost aggro and were off island. I don't think it even said a Spectre begins to cast a spell, they just do that if they were idle and not on the island.

I also remember if I gated far enough away this would happen. However, if I went near the water again, they'd all start chasing as a reaggro.

I love cool and normal EQ research time.

Message a mod and have them move this to Green Bugs.

From RoZ / Kringe there's a wealth of "mined" info including npc run speeds on that mqemulator.net page

Confirms spec speed

I'd wager they were clinging darkness speed and not ensnare speed

Classic only goes so far as to DISadvantage players.

This fits in line with the run speed of fire beetles and other mobs with a similar set speed.

Can outrun them without SoW or strafing, but if you stop for even as second they will catch you.

specs currently outrun my pet, i however never did classic specs, all i know is i have to kite circles in order for my pet to hit it. lol.

edit: also a 6.1 second cast time from max cast range, specs will close in on you before the cast. Dno if thats how its supposed to be either, but im dealing with it. /shrug it's not bad not complaining ill exp to the best of my abilities as a mage. if that includes face tanking mobs to get casts off i guess thats whats gotta be done.

A Spectre
Undead
Spectres hit for a maximum of 94, and tend to attach rather quickly. They are rare in that they move somewhat slowly, and can be outrun even without speed enhancing spells.

They have relatively few hp for their level, which is offset by their high damage output. Their two special attacks of a stun spell and a lifetap spell also help their damage output.

They are undead.

"OK LISTEN UP!!!
The specs in OOT are a 4 spawn... they have around 1700 to 1800hp and they can be pulled using harmony. Clerics can root them and nuke them in 3 casts (with Banish Undead), and they can be outrun WITHOUT SoW. Great exp even in the 40s. Oh yeah they hit anywhere from like 88 to 96 depending on their level.

Thank you! Been saying this for a while now. They run too fast.

The entire True Facts series by Ze is equally humorous.

They must certainly be somewhat slower than "normal". it wasn't uncommon for non-SoW'ed people to accidentally aggro specters on the way to CT and make it to CT without dying, despite the swim they usually had to do.

Spectres were slow. However my primary spectre-related disappointment on P99 is that the spectres in Oasis, if pulled off their island, don't path to and along the ocean shoreline (wiping out the low-level players in their path) before returning to their island like they did in the original game due to P1999 using wholly different pathing.
