Tell me you were using a Jade mace...please.

I'm dreading getting home from work and playing my broken ass monk.

Without context, chatlogs are useless. Go into more detail. What were you wielding. What were you hitting for without the disc active?

Edit: Nevermind. You were afk so I kicked you offline and found out myself. Enjoy the buffs.

This is using a T-Staff, without disc. What you're seeing is probably a side effect of lower melee damage overall.

http://classic-web.archive.org/web/20001204235100/eq.castersrealm.com/disciplines/list.asp?Action=Description&Id=14

It looks like if anything is wrong, the regular attack damage isn't being added to the bonus damage, but the posts stating that there is addition look like conjecture with no evidence to support the theory.

Whoops....I refreshed page and redid my post without everything.

Tranquil Staff was the weapon.

Also: I can get a max hit of 128 *without* innerflame active and then using innerflame my max is 116. Something is strange.

According to Uth's post from wayback...

If your max damage is 128 *without* IF, then WITH IF it would be 128+(4x29)= 244 max

Before today, the min hit with a T-Staff (not sure anymore, I havn't been online yet) was 18. So min damage with IF should be 18+(4x29)=134

amirite?

By the way, I forget off the top of my head what the max was before, any monks with a better memory want to help me realize how hard we've been mitigated (read: fucked)?

I was able to log on last night and play around some. During this time I was able to pop Innerflame. No buffs, and a Str of 150 using Tstaff.
So I can post before/after logs. Hope this helps any. I have no clue on formulas for melee or anything.

INNERFLAME (Level 56): When using this discipline, all hits landed by the monk will be for at least four times the base weapons/hand damage. This discipline lasts for 12 seconds, and has a base reuse time of 30 minutes. The reuse time for this discipline will decrease as the monk gains additional levels.

The main difference in damage you're seeing from pre-patch to post-patch is the removal of the 100% damage multiplier. The other is that the minimum damage modifier was acting like a damage bonus. It's now acting like a minimum damage modifier.

ASHENHAND (Level 60): When this discipline is activated, the next Eagle Strike will do a surprising amount of damage, and under certain circumstances may have a chance to kill the target outright. The base reuse time for this discipline is 72 minutes.

Havn't seen any insta-deaths yet...

I think it has to be 46 or below for it to go off Phist (Like Banishment/Disintegrate/etc)

I wasn't really sure about how the damage bonus fit into the equation with the minimum damage modifier. Currently, it's working like this:

1) Calculate mitigated weapon damage
2) Add damage bonus
3) Check to see if result is less than minimum, set to minimum if so.

Judging by the following post, I think the damage bonus is actually supposed to be applied after the minimum check: http://www.monkly-business.net/forums/showpost.php?p=19108&postcount=146

his AC is INCREDIBLY high, so i normally opt to switch to epic fist x2 when fighting him, after the first 30 seconds or so, to not excessively aggro at beginning of assist phase on the MT... /disc innerflame does minimum damage practically every hit... lots of 47/36 hits... in fact, usually every hit on innerflame. lots of 12's/1's on normal melee.

Epic fists are 9 damage weapons, and damage bonus at 60 for H2H is 11, so I'll try to work in that change.

I think this is pretty close. Not exactly sure what you mean by the minimum damage modifier.

1) Check to see if Innerflame is active
2) If Innerflame active substitute Weapon Damage x 4 instead of 1 for minimum damage
3) Calculate mitigated weapon damage
4) Add Damage Bonus

Level 60 Monk
150 Strength
252 Offense
17 Damage bonus with a Two Hander

This would give a Level 60 monk using T Staff and Innerflame a minimum damage of 133 and a maximum of 249.

Regular Minimum Damage Calculation = (Damage bonus + 1) = 18

Innerflame Minimum Damage Calculation = (Damage Bonus + (29 x 4) = 133

Maximum =

[((Offense + Strength)/100) * (DMG)) + (Level Damage Bonus)] + (29 x 4) = 249

((252 + 150 / 100) * 29) + 17) + (29 * 4) = 249

Should see a large percentage of hits with Innerflame on for Minimum damage - 134 and Magic number damage - 191:

((Weapon Damage * 2) + Damage bonus) + (Weapon Damage x 4)

((29 * 2) + 17) + (29 * 4) = 191

Huh? "magic number damage?"

Everything else looks solid though. Am I to assume that we should be hitting for min (133) the majority of the hits on raid targets?

The minimum damage modifier is not a damage bonus, it's just a minimum damage modifier. So magic numbers, as well as most other hits that aren't at the very top of your fully-buffed damage range are going to be bumped up to this value. In the case of the t-staff, it will be 133, yes.

I was max hitting for 196'ish with a Ton Po w/Innerflame...

My 2HB (Ton Po) DPS is pathetic now, where did all these formulas come from?

Also, I am getting a stellar consistent 24 damage from my Flying Kick. Awesome.

And I am hardly ever hitting for max.

All this makes me cry a little. A warrior was doing more dps then i was with his 1handers then my tsfaff. 36% haste/Tstaff to 21%haste and some 1handers. Hmm.

Got some logs that demonstrated how Innerflame/Duelist/Fellstrike worked prior to getting ported into the spells file.

Innerflame/Duelist/Fellstrike changes, pending update:

- All regular attacks gain damage bonus of 4x weapon damage. This is in addition to regular damage bonus in the case of main hand.
- Duration reduced to 12 seconds.

http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34925

Good post about how melee damage was on classic vs. p99. Recently had some posts in it about the current state of melee (most recent patch).

To summarize: In classic melee had what was refered to as a 'magic number' which was the number you would hit for the most often while attacking an opponent. This number would comprise about 20% of all melee attacks against this target, with minimum damage (dmg bonus+1) being the next most frequently seen number at like 10% or so. The rest of your melee attacks would fall somewhere between your minimum damage and your maximum damage.

Prior to the last patch, P99 used a radically different algorithm. Resulting in the majority of melee hits being for maximum damage, with the next highest % being for minimum damage (but still drastically less common then max damage hits). It also appears that min dmg was being miscalculated and was higher than it should have been.

Melee damage was astronomically overpowered on P99 in the past compared to how it should have been.
