Unknown entity killed me in ocean at BBM

So there I was in the ocean, not far from shore where goblins are in BBM... practicing swimming and playing brass instrument when an unknown entity resisted my fear song and pounded me to death. By unknown I mean literally ____. No name, just blank. Anyone have a similar experience? See screenshot...

I'm guessing it is something to do with the boat mechanics? Quite interesting to see it cast levitate before you attempted to fear it!
