The Dec 20, 2001 patch (http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20011220.html) added new tradeskill vendors to Ak'Anon and Halas. These would be out of era for the P99 timeline.

* Added a few trade skill vendors to Ak'Anon.
* Added ore, clay, pottery sketch, baking, and brewing vendors to Felwithe to round out the tradeskill supplies available in Felwithe and Kelethin.

* Added clay, ore and brewing supply vendors to Halas.

The Felwithe vendors mentioned in this patch have already been removed (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135889&highlight=Alladria%20Skyetcher,%20Bedida%20Claygri nder,%20Feraniel%20Leafsway,%20Serenica%20Greenfin ger) from P99.

There are 2 NPCs with the same name, inventory, and X/Y position, but located on different levels of the tower. This appears to be a duplicate spawn on P99. Both should be removed.

* a clockwork miner (760, -155, -30) - clay/ore vendor

A Jun 2002 EQTraders capture (https://web.archive.org/web/20020605122717/http://www.eqtraders.com:80/location/akanon.htm) shows additional NPCs added to Ak'Anon between Feb and Jun. This likely occurred in the May 8, 2002 patch (http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20020508.html) which greatly expanded tradeksills and added newbie armor quests to Ak'Anon and Steamfont Mountains (The patch notes from May 9, 2002 (http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20020509.html) mention the "late news" of the day before).
* a clockwork potter (750, -173) - pottery vendor (clay, firing sheets, glass shards, vial sketches)
* a clockwork armorer (1220, -703) - small fine plate molds vendor (listed as "a clockwork merchant" on EQTraders, but same inventory/loc)
* a clockwork armorer (1321, -740) - small chainmail patterns vendor (This armorer is in a building of weaponsmiths, dead giveaway!)
* a clockwork merchant (1170, -745) - container/file mold vendor
* ClockworkSmithXIII (2163, -540) - weapon mold vendor with an inventory not found pre-Luclin (listed as "clockwork smith" on EQTraders but same inventory/loc)
This NPC is used in various newbie armor quests (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=12049).

Given the timing of this comment, it sounds as if Sony added Klok Scaleroot in Sept 2000 along with Spirita in Halas, but they copied the existing Cabilis merchant's inventory (Jaxxtz - Oggok inventory) instead of giving Klok Scaleroot the new one (Grobb inventory). So they temporarily removed her, before re-adding with the correct inventory.

It was sorted out by Nov2000 as the Chuppa's Alchemy link above indicates. A Dec 2000 EQTraders capture (https://web.archive.org/web/20001216143400fw_/http://www.eqtraders.com/location/alchemy.html) has the updated inventory as well.

With this latest patch I saw that new trade vendors were being put in. My excitement was through the roof when i heard this. After the patch i searched East and West Cabilis to find no new vendors, so i searched all the old ones to see if they got new items. NOthing. So I searched the outlying areas, Lake of Ill omen, Swamp of no Hope, Warsliks Woods, Field of Bone. Nothing. So i went to some Alchemy Message boards and they are saying that just the Barbarians got a new Vendor. Sorry to say this but We Iksar have a very hard time with alchemy because we must place a mule in Firiona Vie to get our starting components for the skill. Any chance we could also get a new Vendor?

Thanks, Yakatizma. At one time, there were reports of a second alchemy vendor in Cabilis, but he/she/it disappeared without a trace right after Kunark went live. It will be nice for the iksar to be able to work in alchemy without having to deal with KOS races to get ingredients.

The additional Alchemy component vendor, named Klok Scaleroot in West Cabilis, does in fact carry the same components as Jaxxtz, who is the original vendor on the "island" there in West Cabilis. I really look forward to this being straightened out for good. It would also be nice if either the component prices weren't so steep, or we were allowed to forage (some of) them.

We don't see the baker, potter, or SmithXIII yet, as they were added with the May 8, 2002 update.

This thread's last activity is from May 2002, just a couple weeks after the big May 8, 2002 tradeskill expansion and the introduction of the Ak'Anon armor quests as noted in my initial post.

EQAtlas (https://web.archive.org/web/20010416231647/http://eqatlas.com:80/akanonmap.html) makes no mention of baking supplies despite describing the inventory of the clockwork grocer ("Food, Fishing Supplies") in the same room.
12 Merchants selling Food, Fishing Supplies, Magic Stones, and Potions
The clockwork alchemist is also described ("Magic Stones, and Potions") and is on a lower level of the tower. Muse would have had to pass by the baker to document the alchemist.

Checking the spawns again on P99 Green, I saw the clockwork miner that was at (760, -155, -30) is now a guard, Clockwork XVID. I'm not sure if something was bugged before or if this spawn point has multiple placeholders.

EQTraders only ever lists a miner at (760, -155, -14). This thread (https://project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4467) indicates a clockwork miner was not originally present on P99 which would be correct for the era.

i need to get my hands on some sketches,and for the life of me can't find any in Kelethin,Felwithe,Akanon,or Kaladim,all of which i frequently visit,unfortunately for me i am KoS in certain parts of Kelethin and Felwithe.Could someone lend me a suggestive hand here?would be appreciated.

I haven't found any of those cities either. I would recommend taking the boat to Freeport, once there go to North Freeport and everything you need to raise your skill is rught near the bank

Mention of the loom indicates this page was updated around May/June 2001 or later as that's when looms were added (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3709603&postcount=3). The loom in Ak'Anon is right beside the clockwork tailor at (760, 146), so it seems likely the NPC would have also been added to the site had it been present at that time.

The Classic-era ShowEQ dump contained in Dolalin's archive indicates 4 instances of 'a clockwork tailor' which are accounted for in the EQTraders capture seen above. (The actual number listed is 3, but the count starts at 0 as Dolalin explains here (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=348523). See second post.)

No, this is new in Velious. There is a tailor vendor in Thargadin that now
sells a "Robe" pattern. She also sells silver, gold and platinum strings.
And she gives out the Mage or Wizard clothing quests.

First off, are you using the 'robe' pattern? There is no known use for
that pattern. You should use the 'tunic' pattern, which is used to make
raw silk and crystalline silk robes, as well as all other tailored
pieces for the chest slot.

I believe it turned out that the robe pattern was used to make the Ice Silk Robe introduced with Velious, but that was a late discovery.

When you turn in the staff, you get in return a dark reflections rough staff and sent off to find a pristine ebon drakeling scale and a harpy eye. I got lucky and found the scale on the first drakeling, the harpy eye took some time. You then have to turn in the staff you got that's referred as a rough hewn staff, they eye and the scale to a clockwork smithXIII, a new vendor in the mines. You get the staff of dark reflections, which if I recall correctly is a 7/24 2hb +2int int casters/gnome/bertox only. I'm at work right now, so I can't be positive.

find anywhere to buy ore. Does anyone know of a place to buy ore
there? I may have to switch to pottery, I found that shop. I can be

There's no ore on that whole side of Norrath. There's some in Ak'non over
on the east most continent, and I've heard about some being on the way to
Freeport and maybe some in Freeport also. But the bulk of it is on a
different continent.

can't seem to find anyone that sells ore blocks, or a file mold. I am
assuming that I need a file to sharpen weapons. Also, is there anyone in
Halas that sells studs and and other metal parts for leather armor.

At level 7, you probably don't want to start any trade skills just yet.
Wait until you're 15 or so. But if you really want to...

There are no merchants that sell studs or boning or whatever for leather
armor. You will not be able to make that stuff immediately anyway. You
will have to raise your skill first.

There is no source of ore or smithing supplies in Halas (except I think
large molds for banded armor).

The nearest source is Erudin, which means you'll have to get through
Blackburrow, run across Qeynos Hills to Qeynos, and take the boat to Erudin.

Halas was known as the ideal location to level pottery (until Thurgadin) due to having clay, sketches, and a pottery wheel/kiln all in one small zone. Removing Greta would not remove access to clay, however, as Merin (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=1507) offers a standard pottery inventory that includes clay.

I agree with all the other opinions expressed so far. Good to see the shaman class is made up of such reasonable voices.

My wishlist to make alchemy viable:

1. Herb vendors for all races.
Put all the herbs on vendors accessible by all races. Why is this not the case already? It doesn't make sense.

2. Make the potions stackable.
I simply don't have the space to keep potions that i make. Customers don't either. Right now i've got 8 invis to undead potions in a backpack that i've been carrying for 1 month.

3. Introduce wanted potions and fix the unwanted potions.
Casters would love MANA potions, and tanks would love REGEN potions if they were not so underpowered and ridiculously expensive (32pp for a 200hp heal with negative side-effects?)

If you address these issues, it would go a long way to giving alchemy a point beyond sow potions.

The Kerran Ridge herb vendor..at least on TM, sells stat potion herbs only, and .. is missing wolf's blood, so Barb's can't even use her to purchase the herbs to make Sow. (I haven't verified that she is still missing Sow since the last patch btw)

Yes.. I'm a Barbarian.. This whole business of having to use a mule to do your trade work is unnecessary, annoying and a slap in the face to the Barbarian Race.

A solution would be to put the paineel herbs in Kerra Ridge. Factions were reset when Kerra was revamped, after having killed thousands of Kerrans in my youth, they think I'm the cat's meow now ;p

Please don't tell me this promotes RP and dependency on others.. I shouldn't need to make an Evil friend and then trust that Evil friend with my plat, just to buy herbs for a trade skill, that takes the Vision (tm) just a bit too far ;)
