View Full Version : EXP Penalty / DMG Cap (WRONG) - INT casters

I recently started a chanter, roughly 12/2023, and I noticed that regardless of my weapon DMG, I was only able to hit for MAX 12. Smoldering Brand-12, Noble Walking Staff-12. It is treating EVERY melee weapon as being a 6/ weapon. In addition, the EXP has been around 1% per kill on blues. No grouping or pet was involved. This can't be right, and it makes leveling a caster at low levels dreadful. Please check

As far as exp, what level mobs are you killing? "Blue" has a decent range at low levels, and killing a lvl 5 mob vs a lvl 8 one makes a big difference:

Leveling a low-level caster is indeed dreadful. Welcome to EverQuest!

I wish that was true. But if you go ahead and start with a lvl1 cleric and a lvl1 chanter, for example. Give them both a greater than 6dmg weap (try smoldering brand). You will see the cleric will hit for 18 while the chanter will only hit for 12 MAX. There is no way around that issue. It seems as though people somehow forgot how the game worked before. The CAP is on melee below 20 yes. The problem is INT casters are seen as ALWAYS carrying a 6dmg wep. Wow. Unsure how this hasn't been addressed. Thanks for your response though.

Oh, I saw your Wiki after I posted. I never had any issue before recently. I've leveled a few INT casters. That is so dreadful it's not even amusing. Thanks for the information McCoy. I guess I was leveling in heaven and got lucky.
