I alawys liked this joke, because to me it implied that in order to have a robot that does as simple of a task as pass the butter.... it has to be fully sentient. It has to be able to pass the butter in any, and all situations. To navigate any deterrent.

To have the drive that you and I have to survive and all the happiness and sadness and curiosity that drives that will, but, be limited to only passing butter.

It kind of makes sense, because an Ai that can handle most situations, will never be as capable of that as a fully sentient human brain that can handle them all!

It's like, we want AI to be able to handle all these complex situations, but at the same time, we're limiting its potential by not giving it the freedom to make its own decisions. Kind of like how we get frustrated when a game's AI is too predictable, but then we also get mad when it's too unpredictable. It's a tough balance to strike, but I think that's what makes game development so interesting. What do you think about the current state of AI in gaming, though? If you train it on graphics from magic cards I'm sure it will generate things that look like graphics from magic cards. The challenge is to get it to create some kind of new artistic value. That parkinson one of the EQ chick literally just looks like it scanned and translated the pixel order of the actual image, more or less. That's kinda like ehh ok.

It's fun to reverse engineer it conceptually. Like there are lots of apps that let you generate music in various styles, and it's really fun and easy to be like "make a song about eating grapes in the style of the beatles" and it will spit something out that sounds more or less like what you asked for. But then ask yourself what prompt would be required to get it to generate an actual beatles song that already exists? Like pretend the actual human beatles never existed, and your task is to get an AI to generate the specific song penny lane, what would the prompt be?

TLDR: This stuff is remarkable in many ways, but not actually intelligent in any meaningful sense.

I hear you, you don't really need to know about any kind of art theory though. The reason I brought up the beatles specifically is because people often try to explain away their success by some factor other than their actual artistic output. "Beatlemania" was very much a real thing, and yet:

-None of them were particularly good looking

-They started as white guys playing black guy music in a sea of other white guys doing the same thing.

-There was no access to internet virality because it was like 1960.

Given the topic of the thread it seems interesting; what is the intrinsic value of any piece of art? Does it matter how it was made? I don't think it does, but the problem with AI art is that it can only emulate inputs. so my chatbot is using Google currently. but these change all the time. like Google recently fixed a bug i was using to have it test my AI character, i found it by accident by just copy pasting the code in assuming it would give suggestions on what could be changed in it and it just fucking ran the code and started roleplaying as the character

will check it out, i think 200 tokens is actually super fucking slow though i'd have to check. i know in my logs for my chatbot i see it using like 1000+ tokens on one response. and the local LLM i did try ran super slow due to my GTX 950 card, so i don't doubt it "works" but i bet it's like asking the computer in Hitchhikers guide a question and having to wait years for the response.

you can't actually "see" that 9% improvement over Mistral which is one of the ones i tried with my chatbot you'd have to be asking a specific question prolly math or coding and compare it's answer to the other models to even notice

it's like horsepower in a car, you can't really feel couple HP from some bolt on ebay part

i had mine dual boxing models for a bit anytime i would ask it something it would respond twice using each model, and it was literally the same answer just worded differently with Mistral and Google

so they just shot their shot and got 2% over their last model, 3.5 to 4 for ChatGPT was a small gain also, 5 will beat Deepseek and the next Gemini after 2.0 will as well.
