Title says it all. Have to click on then back off upon zoning to have helm not show.

Don't think they can fix this. Changing your face or displaying your helm will not take affect until you zone or relog.

Edit: Unless you're saying it goes back to On everytime you zone. This may be an undocumented change with the recent patch considering you never had the ability to hide your helm in classic.

Yeah this is definitely bugged. Have to keep toggling it in the UI, anytime I zone it shows my helmet again.

Yep the toggle on and off gets your helm to go away till you zone and then you have to do it all over again. You also now see every one's helm regardless if they have it on or off now.

Yes you did. I remember hiding some of the fugly race helms in velious.

OT: This bug is more of an annoyance than anything, since I cant stand barb plate helms ><

I don't think this change was intentional, but if it is working that way.. it is classic.

There was a way to turn helm graphics off in velious. I remember it. I dont know if it were a glitch or a command but I do remember turning off bad helm graphics.

This is something I did while playing around in the textures code for velious stuff, forgot to mention it in patch notes. If you can find me research that shows there was a command pre luclin for it I'll re-enable it.

Also note, that if you toggle it off after you zone, it's only making that change for your client; everyone else will still see the helm.

Wasn't this specifically for choosing to see classic or velious armor? In eqclient.ini you could choose loadveliousarmor = true/false, or a range of numbers, therefore enabling/disabling custom helm.

I do not recall a setting that would force helms off altogether though.

I'm pretty sure helm-hiding came with the new interface they released shortly after Luclin.

I guess everyone wearing a Cap of the Insubstantial is screwed, then.

edit: except barbarians.

In Velious when the first class specific helms were becoming available (ToV, Thurg, Kael) they were either showing the incorrect helm graphic or no graphic at all (Paladin, SK, Warrior, Shaman, Cleric, Monk (Cowl of Mortality), Rogue, Ranger). At some point Verant fixed them and decided to give people a choice between showing no graphic (default turn in I think) and the correct graphic. There was a special NPC in Kael, Thurgadin, and Skyshrine to who you would turn in your helm to make it custom (graphic enabled).

None of the Caster class helms (Druid also but not positive) showed a graphic.

Why take the time to disable something that simply makes the game more enjoyable and is 100 percent optional? If you don't like your helm (I play an Iksar, and the helms all look like crap) turning it off is only going to make the game more enjoyable and doesn't interfere with others' gameplay (how does it hurt them if they can't see your helm)? Sure it wasn't "classic" but it wasn't the "Show My Helm" option that took away from the classic feel of the game. Giving us this option in no way interferes with that.

Well, this is how I see it. If you take away all the little things we've added over the years to make the server more classic, it would certainly be less classic. The more classic features we add, the more people use the argument you provided. If it was a simple as instantly and entirely changing everything to classic.. don't you think I would do it? Until then, I'll continue to support classic changes whether they are small or large.

And it certainly WAS classic in velious2005.

2005.

Thank you for the reply Nilbog. I see what you are saying, but respectfully disagree that being able to hide your helm makes anything feel less classic.

Anyways, in velious before 2005 I am 100% positive there was a quest that enabled you to hide your helm graphic.

You are thinking of the Custom Velious Helms.

When you turned them in to the NPC it made the helm have a graphic not hide it.

I know for a fact you couldnt hide your helm until at least Luclin because I had the ugliest helm for the longest time. I even unequipped it half the time cause it was so stupid looking. I was so happy when I could finally hide it.
