Hunting for bone chips in Butcherblock tonight, I realized that although the game was telling me I was grabbing the bone chips off the decaying dwarf skeletons and the normal dwarf skeletons, when I went to cast a new pet (Leering Corpse) it told me I was missing a reagent.
Looking into my bags, I realized I only had one bone chips strangely. So I went and killed skeletons and five kills later two bone chips dropped. Right clicking them to auto loot them into my bags, I went to cast my pet again only to be told I didn't have the reagents for it. Looking in my bags, I found I only had one chip still.
So I killed a few more skeletons and this time looted the next bone chip by left clicking it and dragging it into my stack. The stack updated to two bone chips and I cast my pet again. Same thing, not enough reagents. So I logged out and back in and when I looked at my bone chip count, it was back to one bone chip.
I was mildly irritated with this, having taken close to forty minutes by now (pre-level 8 mana regen rate), then I found a skeleton, looted the bone chip into my bag in a separate slot and was promptly killed by an even con normal skeleton while trying to summon my pet. Back to Akanon I go, still no pet, the formula for an angry gnome.
===EDIT===
When I finally got back to my corpse, I looted the two chips (left click, dragging, not stacking them) and it managed to get the pet cast off. Seems the bug has to do with the auto loot system and stacking the chips. Not sure what caused this but hoping it's a one time deal since I tend to autoloot absentmindedly.
===EDIT #2===
The chips continued to behave as outlined above. It may also be of note that the bags I use are actually the 8 slot toolboxes, but I made sure there was nothing going on with the experiment function. The bags have been working as bags properly and everything is showing up. It's just the bone chips aren't stacking and will simply disappear if you auto loot them or try to stack them. I'll provide another update on this situation once I get out of Butcherblock, it may just be the skeletons in this zone with the bug.
===EDIT #3===
It turns out this is an issue affecting stackable items in general. I've been posting on this issue in the following thread:

I'll continue looking at this issue and updating in the linked thread from now on.
