while playing on the Fippy Darkpaw progression server (one of my friends recruit a friended me) and the XP is sooooo sloooooow. I thought Project 1999 was true classic. Why is the XP not as big a problem on Project 1999 as it is on the Live Progression server? I turned in the Kelethin mail quest on the live server and it gave me literally almost nothing exp wise. I spent an hour killing things around my level and still was not level 2. I never felt like P99 was this slow at all. Am I trippin on acid here or is P99 on easymode?

pretty sure lvl 2 was literally like 5 mobs to ding on classic live, so whatever fippy darkpaw is is wrong.

See that's what I thought. I played at release and am not sure what the F is going on unless its some sort of penalty of being a trial account....

EQ is currently hardcapped on all servers, including fippy, to not give more than 2% of a level per kill, regardless of the amount of exp you should receive. It makes the first few levels absurdly hard as compared to real classic.

P99 is correct exp gain. It shouldn't take more than a handful of mobs to get level 2.

Ignore the live progression servers. They have an arbitrary exp cap of 2% per gain. So, no matter what you kill or what quest you turn in you will never get more than 2% exp.

Holy crap i forgot about that hardcap... wtf are they thinking? Alright thanks all... i dont feel so confused anymore.

It's not all servers thats its hardcapped at 2% its just the 2 progression servers.

What they were thinking is that it would increase the playtime needed to reach max level. It's a proven fact that people like to race and be the first to do things. Even with the cap it still takes a silly quick amount of time to blow through old school progression when you know what your doing. Plus the Progression servers on live arent true classic. Things like OOC(out of combat regen) and other later added features are still in the game on those servers.

They are not trying to be "classic". They have all of the features of a modern MMO without the uber twinks. I loved playing on fippy but it is a victim of its own success. Way too overcrowded especially 50+. Literally everything is perma camped.

never said they were tryin to be classic just that it wasn't classic. Just a straight time locked progression. Whole reason i hated fippy is because you have all the aholes that wanted to act like they were 12 again training and yelling in ooc whining like little girls. I got my ranger up to 36 and after 2 weeks said screw it. And yes there isnt alot of high end content so everyone being cramped together makes it even worse.

Everyone is hacking on it too, I played a tracking class on vulak for a bit and it did not matter who I was grouped with, as soon as a new mob somewhere in our camp range spawned, the SK's, Paladins, warriors, wizards, etc. every non tracking class in the game... left camp to go get it (beyond several closed doors, turns in hallways etc.) It was so obvious and I felt like the only sucker without hacks on the server.

The live servers have no credibility.

i have the name thulack on vulak but i never played him past like 3 or 4 while waiting for fippy to get unfull that first day. Thulack is 36 on fippy and my main thulack is 90 on cazic. I'm only thulack on EQ))

So, not much different from P1999 in that regard?

fippy's group exp is insanely fast and their solo is creeper. opposite for us.

Somewhat correct. Been a while since I looked, but the experience gain on fippy makes it so that you want to fill out your group, no matter what. The more people there're in the group, the faster the experience gain is. It would be like if you get 4415 experience for a kill, no matter how many people are in your group. More kills = faster experience.

Actually the xp is only slow at the early levels. You can level extremely fast at high levels with a full group because you're getting 2% per kill.

I think it took much longer to level from 1-10 then 50-60 ironically

Until recent applications were added we apparently had a huge hacking problem here as well.

It's really unfortunate people are so obsessed with loot they can't just relax and enjoy the game for what it was meant to be.
