The spawn rate on this quest mob is ridiculous... I have been camping this for days now and still no PS, I have camped it for 15, 13, 12, 8 and 11 hours yesterday for a total of 59 hours and still no PS. From what I heard this was a 6-12 hours camp on live... Several other people are complaining they have 40+ hours on this camp with no luck.

70 hours so far and still no Pained Soul. Oh and now the PH is bugged and just won't respawn, killed it 30 mins ago... I'm now waiting on a GM to respond to my petition.

Heebee just because you got extremely lucky it doesn't mean it's working as intended, you post that on every PS complain thread. I see what you are doing there... Clearly the great majority of the server is having trouble getting PS to spawn. It's pretty common to find people with 40+ hours at this camp with no luck.

I didn't camp it on live. I'm not doing any research into how often he should spawn. I'm not adding any value to this thread. I just want to complain about how many g-d hours I've been at this stupid camp. I hate it.

Ok a more concise look. Keep in mind that you can subtract probably 10 - 20 monsters as adds (I snare about 80% of the monsters at least)

On Live I camped it once, got it in ~4 hr.

Camped it for myself, got it in 2 days. First day was 13 hours nonstop and the second day was 12 hours nonstop. Few weeks later a friend dropped me in ej and went to pick some people up so i decided to kill the ph because he still needed it and it spawned second time around. It could be a bitch or it could be easy. Ive heard of a few people getting it in a few respawns. I guess you just have to cross your fingers and get some meth to shoot incase its going to be a while.

I've camped this piece for several toons on p99 now and each time it was truly painful for my soul (oh hoh) whereas I've camped the same key multiple times on Eqmac without nearly as much of a headache.

In this case you were right, and that's what was happening. When it was re-enabled, the rarity wasn't set to 100%. Setting the value below 100% compounded the rarity and made it excessively rare. The rarity is inherently correct with everything at 100% (and all other forages are) based on the selection principles I explained in an earlier post.

What is quoted there isn't even true. The forage table most certainly accepts and uses values less than 100%. If that was the case at the time, I can't say, but kanras is a source developer and could have changed it.

Anyways, the pained soul is on a spawngroup, which sums to exactly 100%. There's a chance of it spawning every 400 seconds.

I spent probably 35-40 hours on and off getting in anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours per camp at a time at PS. Logged in after just turning in my medallions and tooth for vp key,ran over to PS killed 3 PH's while chatting up on Teamspeak and a pained soul spawn just like that. Its just RNG/luck, I too have seen people haveit spawn back to back literally and then another pained soul an hour later. I saw a pained soul pop again after 1 PH kill yesterday while waiting to zone into seb.

Frustrating camp no doubt, Even more so on a PVP server. But eventually, You will get it.
