Hey guys. I threw this out there in the IRC earlier and was asking about the way that Kunark loots were handled for the Kunark release. I am sure everyone remembers things like Stave of Shielding, Sarnak Battle Shield, Nature's Wrath, Master Wu's Trance Stick, Green Jade Broadsword and all such seemingly "random" drops.

While I realize they weren't actually random drops and they dropped from specific sub-groups of creatures within these zones the information I am looking for is to compile a list of items, their possible drop creatures (ie. spectrals within City of Mist) and your interpretation of how rare these items were.

Anyways, I am hoping to get some good participation in this thread. I will try to update the thread as it goes to compile the list in the main post.

City of Mist is pretty huge on the random drops. Iirc, any non-named mob in zone has a chance of random loot. Chance for loot seemed like it was probably around 3-5%.

Memory tells me that the undeads (ghosts + skeletons) have their own loot table. Golems are on another, and the goos have their own also.

I do not think that level of the mob affects the drop rate, but it might affect the chance for certain specific loots. Higher level ghosts seemed to drop the Green Jade Broadsword more often than lower level ones, for instance.

Undeads can drop the Green Jade Broadsword, Master Wu's Trance Stick, Kunzar Kujuch.

Goos only ever dropped the Wintry Club for me. Unsure if there were other loots for this sub type.

Golems dropped Wu's Quivering Staff, and Obsidian Ring of Quintessence.

In Chardok I only ever remember seeing the non-named Sarnak models with a Sarnak Battle Shield. Fairly rare, could usually run around the entire zone and not see a mob carrying one. (they were always visible)

In Sebilis, the Krup sub types would very, very, very rarely drop a Rune Branded Girdle or Felhammer. The other frog sub types could drop the Dragon Horn Ykesha and Sebilisian Berserker Cloak. I cannot stress how rare it was to get a haste belt or cloak from these mobs. Probably 0.1% chance. There are alot of other random drops from Sebilis but those are the ones coming to mind atm.

Gem Encrusted Ring [AC10 +7str] - I had one - dropped early in Kunark off random giants in Dreadlands & Frontier Mountains (I got mine in Dreadlands, not far from Karnor). Was removed from their loot table after a month or so I believe.

All of these -except- the Tree Weave are random drops from giant models in Frontier Mts., Burning Woods, and Dreadlands. Afaik the Tree Weave is from the named giant (Gorgul Paclock) at the Burning Woods giant fort.

It was always my understanding that this earring could drop from any non-named sarnak spell caster in Kunark. I had several of these drop for me, always from a sarnak caster, most often in Dalnir. Several of my monk friends had the joy of me sending them a tell to get their butts on over to loot one.

It is missing a few things. Sarnak Earring of Station is not listed on any mob that I looked at. But it sure covers a lot of stuff, and I have not seen much that I really disagree with yet.

I know it's semi-off topic to the nature of what people are posting, but will the robe of living fungus has it's +15 regen like it did when it first came out? admittedly this was nerfed fairly quickly so i'd say it'd be best to not have it. Afterall it was the common drop from king and the stats beat the tunic hands down for a monk.

I think you (and others) underestimate what 1-2% means.

I AE'd seb. I killed thousands of frogloks. Easily. Maybe tens of thousands. I saw this drop exactly once.

it was certainly rarer than 1-2% , i mean that's 1 per 100 mobs. I remember grouping there over a load of levels and seeing it maybe once... same with RBG,
probably killed upwards of a thousand frogs in the process of seeing these.

think RBG PC'd for about 70k on my server, seb cloak was about 35k i think. It's been a while :p

Having been pro at Ragnarok Online where items drop at .01% chances from specific mobs, I'd say the rarity of an RBG or SBC being closer to .1% - .05%

Basically, many of the zones in Kunark had valuable loot that would drop off creatures within the zones. They weren't named creatures or anything, just your average exp trash. What I am looking to do is compile a list of loot on a zone-by-zone basis that details exactly which creatures could drop which loot.

For example: Some people report that Master Wu's Trance Stick can only drop off of Undead and Spectral creatures. Sebilisian Berserker Cloak can only drop off of the Kor Shamans ...

These creatures were not static named creatures, they were just average mobs in a zone that could drop desirable loot.

If you are interested in helping I would suggest tackling things on a zone-by-zone basis and look at all the potential drops in each zone and what possible creatures can drop that stuff.

I remember any forest Giant had a chance of dropping a forest loop. The ones in warsilk woods had a greater chance it seemed. Though it was rare I was camping their sometimes 6 hours and finally got a forest loop.

But this page has Tons of chardok information. I will add they are missing some loot, but what they have is 99 percent correct. I will add a link to the one missing loot that I know of. I remember using this website back during velious era. I hope you can use this info Wenai to set what is common, rare and ultra rare. Please check it out.

Burnt Wood Staff is the one loot that I know dropped there pre-revamp. Since I had one that I bought. Was only 2 on the server that I knew of. The comments only say that it dropped from the golems in the zone very very rarely.

I got links for all items if you need them. I will add them. When I went there for 2 hours in beta I noticed that the rare drops were on the correct mobs. Just way too common. Just some of the mobs were not classic mobs. The humans with flesh were never there in kunark era. Sorry if some of this info you already have.

Wu's quivering staff was pretty rare too. Like we got a few wu sticks before we got one wu staff.

Spells lvl 51-54ish would drop for us off the high level goo's and golems, but we rarely killed past the castle doors.
Jade Reaver: was pretty rare off the Black reavers that had a chance to keep spawning almost endlessly when you killed one.

All the other stuff mentioned on page 1 was correct.

Some days we'd get maybe 5 rares in 3 hours. Other days we'd get 1 rare in 6 hours while we exp'd at the entrance all the way up to the castle doors.

A lot of the chardok loot listed is possibly from after the revamp. I have trouble finding any information at all on chardok before it was revamped. I did not get to go there before it was revamped either. I also think they have revamped it one time since. At least they added a Chardok B way after velious. I will look for the date that chardok was first revamped.

updated: All I could find was eqatlas from around june 2000. It does list some of the chardok loot just not much. This is before the revamp. Appears that the maker of eqatlas never ventured into chardok either until a much later date.

I did quite a bit of hunting in City of Mist around the Velious era. The cooler items of the above were hella rare. i.e. I never even saw a third of that list actually drop.

It's a lot higher than 0.1% chance. I got a pair fairly easily, and saw plenty more drop in groups after I got mine.

It didn't drop for long ( 3 dropped on Tunare before it was discontinued), but the rod of annihilation (60/40 2h INT caster only) dropped somewhere in Crypt in Sebillis. Alla's says it came off crypt caretaker, but I don't have firsthand knowledge that this is correct. Pretty sure it stopped dropping about one or two weeks after the first people got into Seb.

Since Magelo was mentioned above, it is a great resource to see who exactly drops each item, however an edited drop rate must be taken into account. Lots of random junk was added to mobs over the years, pushing the % drop rate to a lower value then it would be without those items on the loot table. You can kind of "eye it up" if you are familiar with item eras and make an estimate of its true drop rate in this era w/o other junk on the table though.

I know it's semi-off topic to the nature of what people are posting, but will the robe of living fungus has it's +15 regen like it did when it first came out? admittedly this was nerfed fairly quickly so i'd say it'd be best to not have it. Afterall it was the common drop from king and the stats beat the tunic hands down for a monk.

I can't seem to find info for when the RoLF was nerfed, also it's unclear whether it was a retroactive nerf or not.

Anyone know?
