Hai

So right now in game, the spell Numb the Dead requires and eats and Bone Chip every cast.

Nothing is said of it needing bone chips, I can't remember if it worked that way before, I must say I seldom used it and usually carry a bunch of chips on me at all time.

According to this, it does require a bone chip.

However, one person mentions that it does not consume the bone chip. Its possible that it works similar to banshee aura - requiring the component in your inventory but not consuming it.

Considering that I went through 4 stacks yesterday in CoM without ever casting a pet, I'm fairly certain that it does consume a Chip right now :)

But yea, casterrealm is the only ressource that lists it as having a reagent, and like you said, has conflicting posts on it.

Consuming the bone chip seems to be correct.

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.games.everquest/browse_thread/thread/addfc57d421fa6da/7d869d38df463c70?lnk=gst&q=%22numb+the+dead%22+bone+chip#7d869d38df463c70

"Hey, do bone chips decay with time? I had 28, now I've got 4."

Miskin casts *Numb The Dead*.

"Oh, crap, I've only got 2 now!"

A single post on a random newsgroup is enough to prove that 3 other sources are wrong?

Not bitching, just wondering the process, I mean, Alla and the wiki aren't random newsgroup posts, I fail to see how a random guy on the internets has more credibiity than established databases, hell the guy posting on the casterrealm disproving that the spell takes a reagent should hold as much group as him.

In any case, thanks for looking into this, as usual, your time is appreciated even if when I make you waste it!

Good evening.

When doing your research on spells that have conflicting data, there is one place you can go to get reliable information from 2002 onward.

How does this help us? While Lucy does not show spell information prior to 2002, it shows changes to spells post 2002. So if something was removed after 2002, that means it was part of the spell until that point. Understand?

So there is the link :

http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spellhistory.html?id=347&source=Live

And if you are lazy

"2003-05-14 11:16 Changed Reagents from Bone Chips x 1 to "

Notice nothing after "to" ? that means they removed the reagent requirement completely.

send this to resolved imo.

From this it seems that it requires a bone chip but doesn't consume it.

Hmm really?

Same link, second page of comments says it does.

So we are back to the same point before I posted.

Both the kunark and velious spdat files have it as a reagent. There is a separate column (Focus1) for non-consumed items like fire beetle eye for flame lick, pearl for banshee aura, etc.
