While playing recently on a Shaman, and meming spells between attacks on a slowed NPC I noticed I was getting hit for normal damage. I specifically remember on live if you were sitting, and an NPC hit you, it was for the maximum they can hit for.

Brief digging led me to this thread from November 2000.

btw...I thought it used to be that when sitting you took full damage regardless?

Yes you take full damage when hit while sitting. h

(Stunparking = Throw a stun into a group, walk away, sit down. The mob charges you, stand up just before it gets there so it doesn't get auto-max damage hits on you, then cast the fastest casting time root you have and walk back to the group)

I am sure there is more info out there, but I am positive sitting should mean you get hit for max. On here your sitting damage mitigation seems exactly as standing.

I can also remember this, but didn't want to be the one to have it changed :p

I thought that when you sat it just droped your AC check? /shrug, I dont really remember, so damn long ago. I can tell you now. ON live when my enchanter is PLing i can sit and the low lvl mobs only agro and interupt sit. They miss or do 1dmg 99% of the time. just checked to verify.

Definitely remember this during 2001 era, and probably even extending further. In PC duels an opponent sitting gave a max melee hit.

Yes sitting always gives a max hit.

NOTE in pvp that means max regarding cap. AKA lvl 5 with executioner axe hits for 21, not 90.

Here's the stumper though, I'm not 100% sure if you get a dual wield/double attack if all hits are for max or just the initial.

I remember a double 2hander hit box being max.

Now that is wrong and a bug.

This was patched out for NPCs. Previously it was working like its been described in this thread. Maybe Nilbog can shine some light as to why it was changed.

You always know the PH on isle2 in sky because he hits for like 220, so the tank would always sit to check max dmg, it was patched out thus making it so you had to wait a couple rounds to make the determination. That's my anecdotal evidence.
